Upgrading from B to A

Hey youre just right down highway 60 from me, cool to see somebody around the same area on here! You will not have to take your air brake or your your general knowledge tests over again as you have already passed them. If your wanting to get your class a with no other endorsements the only other test u will have to take to get your permit is the combination vehicles test. It's an easy 20 question test. Now if u want tanker,hazmat,doubles,triples,etc.. U will have to take the test on wichever one u want.

 

when I went from being a school bus driver to a class a driver I had to take everything but my airbrake test. The general knowledge was different for class a then for class b, at least here in California it was.

Like the poster before me wrote, some of the tests will depend on what endorsements that you want or need to have.

I must say that I never for one minute have had regrets about leaving bussing and going into trucking. I did school and tour bus's, so, I went from transporting kids to hauling drunks around! I like trucks better, at least the cargo is not arguing with you, or throwing things, fighting, etc.

Good luck and dont get to bored in school when they are talking about some safety stuff that has already been drilled into your head as a school bus driver.

 

I have a guy in my class who had his class b for many years he had to take all three because you need the permit with all 3 on them.

 

I went from a B to an A. I only had to take the combination test to get my A permit.
