Hello all,
Well don't I feel stupid? I signed up for the Gas & Oil Expo, but not the Career Expo (thinking it was all the same event). When I went into the G & O Expo, there were no recruitment sections, or people to talk to about hiring. Then I found out that the Career Expo was gonna start tomorrow, but that it was full - they are not accepting new registrants. WOW - the best laid plans gone bad. I'm gonna try to show up with resumes, and make a puppy dog face, but I ain't that pretty. I'll probably get stonewalled.
Anyway, here's my question...
Is there anyone on here that would like to look at my resume? I have an AZ license (Class 1), and I have experience in the oil field as a Compact Memory Logging Operator with Weatherford Canada Partnership. I have no demerit points on my abstract (PDF file), but I do have a speeding ticket, and a no insurance card charge. I also have some IT experience.
Thanks in advance for any consideration.
Cheers,
Mike

Not really sure as to what the wages are actually like right now for Vac truck OPs but back in 2011 talking to a Vac Op with the company I was pulling for with the shortage of drivers they had back then was upwards of about 26 for Vac Ops back then. The OT hours He was getting in due to the company I was pulling for being on a Oilfield Exempt back then was killer. Though He was stationed in Red Earth never really saw him much as they had him stationed out of Swan Hills on a huge clean up that other companies were doing back then with the company I was with in due to a Tri trailer roll over which leaked down into a fresh water source back then.
Every time I did see him in camp I felt sorry for the guy as He literally back then looked like a walking talking zombie. He said that most times it was better to crawl back into the day sleeper than go back to the bunk houses they had set up for them over there.
From what I heard from him He claims they were having allot of pack rat and skunk problems over there at the time. Myself I am still pacing around this dam basement wondering what to do right now myself. When I was hauling for that company back then I could not handle it. Beat up equipment that was always under maintained in due to how much the trucks were out back then. Was hit good with enough H2S that I almost dropped to my knees at the main battery we were hauling into in due to how many trucks were parked at one time off loading.
H2S monitors everywhere were alarming all the time at that site. Myself I threw up about three times but hey never dropped to my knees so was told it was all good yeap good times had by all. Yeah cut my losses and went home early so like these guys are saying you will work hard for your money but there is money to be had. How much who knows that all depends on the company and how badly they need drivers. I know myself rates have drastically dropped since 2011.
Allot of people from BC still think Fort Mac is a good place to go including my father he thinks I should go up there yet one has to think about living expenses as well as eating expenses when up there. It is getting to be extremely expensive for that up there which brings a guy back down in wage is from what I am seeing.
I honestly think that it is not all that it is cracked up to be when I have been researching myself where I have found other job sources that equaling out all that stuff. One could work else where and make just as much true take home once said and done to be just as far ahead as the guy doing below comments.
From what I am seeing now these companies are not paying huge wages like they were yet everyone still seems to think that is happening which I myself am not seeing anymore. I know there is going to be others posting and bragging it up yet they never tell you what they had to endure to make that money.
I myself was covered in mud boots never would stay on my feet in due to how caked the mud was and if you are not slipping or falling to your knees in it dragging the hose to the riser in it you are not working hard enough is from what I was being taught. There was times it was dry but I also had to drive a floater in to some of them wicked places.
The whole Edmonton and surrounding areas have been seeing rain this last past couple of weeks now on and off mainly light showers.
The whole Edmonton valley area was under a Tornado watch June 12. Reading what Fort Mac is like right now the River up there is at an all time high which is flooding out certain areas from what I see on News sites. I also like the posting you did there Nitrogen telling it like it truly isLast edited: Jun 13, 2013

Stay away from Trican they're going the wrong direction with the pay scale. Iron skinner bonuses got.reduced, sand haulers bonuses got reduced to $250 per load( half of them quit shortly after) 24 hour crews split bonuses now, they flopped the standard and performance bonuses around so they can hold that threat over your head that if you #### up you'll only get the miniscule standard bonus. guys that do make good money keep their mouths shut and eyes to the curb carefull not to make a splash and get noticed. Also management makes it perfectly clear of you post absolutely anything on social media or point out the negatives to Trican to anyone they will skid you on the spot. That all being said , it's probably the same at all service companies

Well I am not surprised one bit about this info. All companies out there seem to have this policy in place where you talk bad about the company or anything you are skidded. I also wonder what is going to happen with Baker Hughes employees come up soon here.
From what I heard Trican and Baker Hughes are in partnership so with that being said I am sure this will hit home for them also.
I just do not get why these things are happening like really are these companies taking that much of a hit loss on the contracts that they are doing now that they have to dig the money out of our pockets.
Like why the lies why not come right out and say what is going on so a guy that is traveling a far distance can be prepared on what to pack that is what I had a problem with gladly I did my research well and new what I was in for though when I arrived just that most do not. -
Which base you out of and what department?
