You have to have your class A CDL before you can come to training. Class is shortened by 3 days if you have a CDL.DenaliDad Thanks this.

I haven't seen any new Volvos. This year I have seen a few prostars roll in new, but mostly Cascadias.biker dave Thanks this.

Thanks, Rooster. I can't imagine how that new law benefits Texas economically, what with the local sales losses they must be experiencing. My guess it's a political thing designed to keep non-Texas resident students, who traditionally vote Democrat, from living in Texas and voting for a Democrat candidate "back home."
-
It's a federal law that has been on the books for axlong time and recently they gave Texas a ration about not enforcing it.
-
Oh it's your lucky day, I'm gonna send you a PM about LTL in Chicago. LtL is one of the few thing's FFE does half way decently.

As I begin my 3rd and final year with ffe, I thought I'd pass along some of the things I have observed:
the academy is top notch. No complaints. In fact all other ffe facilities will leave you disappointed. If you hate the academy, go home. It gets much worse.
The awful showers in Burlington will make the Lancaster showers look like the ritz.
The potholes in the Dundee yard can swallow a tractor and trailer.
I was in detroit on the 4th of july. Gunshots could be heard between the fireworks. Not making it up.
If you are otr, forget about parking in bridgeview.
Lancaster is like a black hole, once you're in, good luck getting out.
I once saw a cucaracha the size of a bar of soap at the Laredo yard.
i hate Denver. No real reason. I just hate that place. You will too.
slc is cool. They're next door to a flying j. Area looks shady but its SLC, so no worries.
Portland won't let otr or ltl from other terminals park there, if you make the mistake of asking.
only been to Stockton once. Yard was filled with all the trailers ffe sends out to die.
ontario is cool. T/M will let you drop a trlr in the yard if you ask, so you can bob to the many great restaurants nearby.
What can I say? It's been great...jomar68, p34ch3s and futuretruckertx Thank this. -
Do you know what federal law, Fozzy? I'm trying to wrap my head around this and it's not making sense. I hold a CDL-A and need a "refresher" course because I've been off the road too long. I've talked to two companies in Texas. One says I can't get trained there, so I would be going out to Colorado. One says I can get trained there. In Texas. So...wazzup?!?

Nothing unusual about that. It's Detroit! Heck, I went to a Kelly Clarkson concert a couple of years ago (a birthday gift from my daughter) and she said that just before the show, there were gunshots so close to her RV that her security detail and the Detroit PD surrounded it. The shooter was arrested very close. She said she was a WEE bit scared, even being a tough Texas woman.
People in the theatre looked at each other like, 'Um...it's DEE-troit. What does she expect?' -
Lol!! All true... its been about 4 years since I was driving for them. Did you forget Downey, ca or did they get rid of that one? The burlington showers used to be really nice. They got nasty really quickly!
