I ran down 220 from Roanoke into Greensboro yesterday with a guy from EPES. He had something wrong with his trailer brake adjustment. Left front drum would smoke like the dickens whenever he would use the brakes. Tried to get a hold of him on the CB but he was either ignoring me or didn't have it on. Saw him on the shoulder 30 miles later. Probably one of your guys who likes to leave problems for the next guy and was hoping to limp it to your yard.

Wow 2 inspections. I ran 1800 miles across 10 states during the 72 hour blitz period. Wed and Thurs was with 12 Red placards on the tank. Might as well paint a big bulls eye on there for DOT attention. I was green lighted by prepass for most of the scales. The 4 or so I crossed had me hit the bypass lane. I really didn't see much of a difference in enforcement.

Maryland Monday, and New Jurky on Tuesday.

NJ was pulling in every thing, till the lot was full. Then inspect one at a time.

I've said this before but since I got another one of these worth mentioning again since it's been awhile for anyone new following the thread. do NOT trust the scale at Riegelwood. always weigh as soon as you can coming out of there no matter what the ticket says.
picked up a drop on the charlotte yard out of Riegelwood going to bowling green. of course I knew I was too close to home on Thursday. again. guy was good enough to leave the ticket with the bills and the ticket said 75620 with 33860 on the trailer and really light on the front. typical Riegelwood load.
get up on 26 to the closest scale on route and weigh this morning and surprise surprise (not lol) 77200 and 34600 on the back. do NOT trust the scales at Riegelwood.
good thing too because somebody forgot to tell Tn that roadcheck ended yesterday. they were wide open in inspection mode all the way up 40. I had it evened up nicely and got the green going past the first scale. parking area at the 307 was a DOT party and about 10 of them in there. looked like they were picking on placarded loads, flats and straight trucks and rolled me on through.......came out the other side and 3 of them in the bushes on the geton and pull back out on the highway and 2 guys pulled over about 1/2 mile down the road, including the guy that was in front of me that ran it. they were waiting and nailing everyone that tried to run it. I know if I hadn't listened to my gut and my prior experiences with those loads and reweighed it I would have gotten some much unwanted attention in Tn today if i'd have trusted that ticket.
other than being Friday and 500 from home and heading another 400 in the wrong direction it's been an okay week for a change with good runs and good miles but an equal amout of bs to get them. guess i'll be in sunday again. -
you're probably right. serves him right. how do you not see your brakes smoking? unless it's dark I guess or you just aren't looking in your mirrors. or hoping you can drop it on the yard before it leaves you sitting lol

not just a matter of seeing your brakes smoking.....sometimes you can smell them too! I was behind a container one time that was smoking like all hell and behind right behind him I sure could smell it....even guys on the CB were calling out....I smell brakes. Finally somebody got up beside him and signaled to him.

ok...gonna throw it out there! I'm leaving EPES within a month or so! I have several options...still looking into them. Out of 5 days...I've had 1000 MILES! YEP, you read that right! I have beg, pleaded...everything....to NO AVAIL! All the past loads I've picked up have been late pick ups because they had to be reworked...TWICE! DM says my paychecks look fine? First, it's NONE OF THEIR #### BUSINESS...and second...if they look sooooo freakin' good, why am I having to put my son on a PLAN OF HIS OWN, OUTSIDE OF THE COMPANY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! They WON'T let me switch DM's.....I'm broker than a panhandler...I'm pretty much done.....guess I'll just stay broke until I land a new gig! TRUTH BEING.....YOU MAKE IT OR BREAK IT IN TRUCKING.....it's just what kinda FLEET MANAGER YOU HAVE! I even got the, "I think your paychecks look great, but you got to be happy" qualcomm message...guess Al Bodford is gonna get a nice letter from me...starting after this post! Oh...let's NOT forget...July IS the slowest freight month of the year BS! That's all I'm hearing....guess it'll be a big 500 mile week for me next month! lol
POPS3480 Thanks this. -
Mine hasn't been much better. Knocked down 3070 last week don't even have in 1000 this week as of today. Nothing but short trips and long waits this week.

Hey guys, haven't meant to blow you off. Just been really busy trying to learn a new system and the new games that go along with it. I got a 2014 kenworth t680, a really nice ride with a 13 speed tranny. I really like everything so far. Pay is gonna be much better than before. I will have to get better at playing the games first tho. I get paid a percentage of the linehaul and get to choose my own loads and areas to run. I'm struggling a little right now trying to get out of the mileage mindset. I am on paper logs, don't understand 'creative' logging yet and drive a truck that's not governed. However, fuel technically comes out of my settlement so MPG's are really important. Usually keep it at 68 and still managed to run 780 miles one day last week. 550/600 miles a day is about the norm so far. The people I have met have all been really nice and really helpful. I know this is really scattered thoughts and I apologize. I will try to give a better account in a few days. Keep the big wheels rolling!
