60 series detroit BURNING 3 GAL. OIL WEEKLY

    I have a 2007 freightliner with a 500hp 60 series detroit engine that has been rebuilt at 500,000 (give or take) i also purchased a used turbo and egr valve ( didnt know they were going bad intil after the rebuilt engine) i took it to the shop because it was burning 1 gallon of oil per week the tech. Said that my egr valve wasnt programmed to ecm at something rated ( he lose me there) so after that now im burning 3 gallon of oil per week and its coming out the crank shaft hose ( the hose at the bottom of the engine). I pull logs with the truck and from my understanding there is not any power lose of smoking from the muffler. Someone please help me............

    your building up too much pressure in the oil pan from the piston rings not seating properly. (engine blowby).

    cat had the same problem with an engine. don't know which. but there remedy was to put an oil fill cap in place of the blow by hose. replace the middle cover with a new cover that has an outlet for the blowby hose. the engine got torn down that winter and all 6 piston rings were broke. top rings only. and it was also found out that cat installs undersized pistons.

    course, there was also a lot of blowby smoke out the tube.

    Ok thanks. Do you think if I dont get that fixed it would eventually mess.up something. Else
