If you are running out of hours then decline the load. If there is any doubt that you can deliver the load on time then notify your dispatcher and ask if you should accept it anyway. If you get an HoS violation from the DoT, or worse you get into an accident because you were running too hard, then it does not go on your dispatcher's driving record. It's your ###. Do not let the office put you into a bad situation because they will. If you do it once then they will expect you to do it all the time and sooner or later you will get caught. Yeah, they love it when you bend the rules for them. You are family until you become a liability and then you are out the door with a tainted driving record looking for another job. I am not saying to slack off or take advantage of anyone but don't let anyone take advantage of you either. This also applies to shutting down and taking your break at night in isolated areas. I had a dispatcher tell me to do so and I refused. It's unsafe and believe me, if you get robbed or roughed up then safety will want to know why you were there. YOU, not any dispatcher, are responsible for your safety, your license, and your driving record.

Bumped up against the dock in Appleton. Got a load picking up in the morning going to Saratoga. By the time that I get there I'll need a reset. Another good week miles wise.

Today was complete crap. My preplan was 300 miles with the empty miles and sent me through Atlanta during morning rush hour. Was two hours late and arrived as they went to lunch. Took them an hour to load the guy ahead of me and then there was a shift change, down for another hour. Then it took my guy 6 hours to load me. I kept having to go in and check on them because he kept stopping to chat with his friend.

I ended up being able to split log it and get here to the SCA in Bowling green. I'm parking all alone in their drop lot, which is kind of relaxing but I'd like a bathroom at least...

    Share the wealth Weeble. :(

Well, still sitting here in the dock, haven't been touched. And I'm the only truck here. Cutting into my sleep time. The sooner I get to Saratoga, the sooner I can start my reset.

I'm hoping they aren't punishing me for being late as I'm just the relay guy.

I would if I could cook, I'm just running what my dispatcher sends across the ole ##### box.

Delivered this morning in what might have been the smallest town in Indiana. Driving in I was convinced I had to be lost and all I could think was OMG am I really going down this road and who am I going to get to help me back out of here. Then there it was right in the middle of town.

Picked up at Indiana Waupaca and heading to Waupaca then over to the yard for my PM. Spending the night at the Russell TA foggy up here tonight.

Dropped my loaded trailer in Saratoga Springs this evening, hit every single light red getting to 87 so I could get to the truck stop in Wilton, NY where I am now taking my reset. No pre plan yet, and no empty either.

So when you guys get preplans with a delight date and time that has a specific hour set for delivery (example: "6-10 1700-1700") do you find that most of the time that hour seems to give you way too much time to get there? Obviously the clarkesville loads are an exception, but I've found myself getting some reay badly designated delivery times. Like, 48 hours to drive 600 miles.

Or are they just doing that because I'm new?

Water loads are tight, most of the SCA loads have good times on them, and the California loads I do are generally pretty tight. The only time I have a lot of time on loads are more on the pick up side rather than the delivery side. Although this broker load I'm on has a good amount of time on it. I'm pretty sure I can do 1000 miles by Monday at 0800. But then I have to be up by Minneapolis the same day.

I've found that too and don't think it has anything to do with being new. I've had badly scheduled runs too where too much time given to be there. When I asked about delivering early, was told that apt time couldn't be changed.

I hate that because I feel I'm being limited in miles when I have to sit and wait for delivery time like that. Happens every now and then usually with broker loads. Best I've found to do if possible is get close and try for 24hr layover...

We have had a few loads like that as well. One was a broker load and we knew we were going to be a day and a half early so we called the broker and explained, and they where very nice and changed are delivery appointment . But with other loads we have had to just go with it . Like are next load coming out of bellemont az delivers Monday morning at 0800 in Denver . We will be leaving bellemont az Saturday morning....
