You're over reacting, and not looking at both sides of the story. Besides I had already mentioned about the pay reduction in this thread.

Running 24 hours means 12 hour shifts instead of 16, and same pay but 2 hours OT max.

The safety bonus is now the large portion of the pay. Trican has a very high injury rate and way too many milking them on modified duty. So now they are trying to make their point that unsafe work will not be tolerated anymore. Don't blame them.

On the other hand trican't is the outfit that had me drive all the way from estevan to llyodminster for a job interview only to go your abstract that you faxed us 2 weeks ago isn't good enough. And you weren't able to figure that out before I drove 12 hours each. Ignorant pricks I lost all respect for them after that.

That is also in due to the ignorance of not just Trican putting University and College bozos with high degrees that they received there high certifications on a piece of paper in main offices. This does nothing for the new people that are trained under these guys or gals in due to exactly with what I said above. They have next to no experience out in the field yet there the ones training people to go out to do these dangerous jobs because hey it must be right I read it in a book so do it that way that is the attitude these days.
You know what I say I say no plain and simple. You cannot be a good Driller by reading books you cannot be a good Lead Hand by reading books you have to experience the real world of actually being there doing the job.
Accidents do happen but I have been around the horn for many a year now. I have seen more than my share of these people either wanting to cut corners or like I say. There the morons that come into the industry that have no experience around this dangerous equipment. They think they can do the job and they end up getting themselves hurt as well as others in due to reading a book yet having no experience around the equipment at all.
Until these companies start waking up to put the old timers in offices that have been there for many a year to train others to go out and do the job safely. There will be a huge amount of people out there getting hurt even more than what your talking now.
A classroom can only take you so far then you have to get out there to find an old timer to take you under his wing to train you in the real world experience of doing the job properly as well as safely without the books at hand.
At least that is what I have always done ahem knock on wood. I have never been seriously hurt either no broken bones just small little scratches and very minor cuts. I mean when your pulling wrenches it happens to us all.
I honestly put my good fortune in the hands of the old timers that I have listened to over the years. Yes there are some that just want to see you get hurt and there grumps all around but the ones that will teach are the ones that have been golden to me.
That is just my two cents.

Do not feel bad the same thing happened to me with them. They wanted to send me on a wild goose chase so I told them well if you do not want me then we will leave it at that. The guy I was talking with up at the Hinton branch said oh no were looking for drivers like you. I replied well it sure does not seem like it as I know your going to let me walk out that door here watch and I walked out. They wanted to send me out to Red Deer like what is with that.
I honestly did not have the money to be doing all that at the time as I honestly was on my last five hundred bucks at the time with no money coming in to keep me living so I had no choice but to do that.
I did eventually find work I was in a truck too just had nothing to do with the oil field industry. I was able to be home every night was okay pay and I enjoyed the challenge the job gave me every day.

Yup^^^^ exactly 10-12 years later I'd forgotten and in a moment of stupidity I stopped in their red deer office. Oh yes how about a road test tomorrow morning. Ok. In the morning oh our tester isn't available til after lunch, we'll call with the exact time. No call then the prick neither took my calls or returned my voice mail. I really hate people and companies that want to mickey mouse around. LISTEN BUDDY I'M TRYING TO PAY MY BILLS THISIS NOT SOME SPARE CHANGE JOB BECAUSE I'M BORED

nitrogen Exactly that is exactly with what happened to me so I got feat up with spending a good two weeks of going in there office wasting my money as well as my time I did not have coming in at the time.
If they needed me that bad like I say they would of snatched me up fast within the day I walked into one of there offices.
I have found that I have been way happier working for the smaller outfits anyways myself in due to them treating me like a person and not some dispensable robot. Not sure how you have felt about it all.

trican has their own in house medical team, and "some" of the people were put on modified duties for no reason.

did some milk the system... yes, but i have seen some that didn't want to be on it and were forced to.

yes in general I have found the small outfits to been a more satisfactory work experience. You'll always have some workplace politics. I have found in general that at the smaller outfits there is less of that garbage of "management' playing favorites with friends

Absolutely agree Nitrogen. I officially resigned from Trican today.

I had a good experience there. Not great, but good and was the job I needed at that point in my life.
