Glad things are going well for you. I met my trainer and he seems like a great guy and I'm looking forward to working with him. Hopefully by the middle off next week, we'll be on the road.

hey dont worry about the gears. i still miss them and i have been on my own for a year.
-
Hi There, dont want to hijack your topic but on the mention of shifting, Exactly how much different is shifting in your truck compared to my car which is a stick shift. I have been doing stick shifts for most of my adult driving life and still on the rare occasion miss a gear.
-
Double clutching and downshifting. A tractor is much different than in a car. Cars have synchronizers that match up the engine speed and transmission. Trucks do not have these so the driver has to match them up by shifting at the proper RPM for the speed. That said, it isn't that difficult to do with a little instruction and a lot of practice.

Hi guys,
I'm gonna be starting at Richfield July 1. So excited to join the Millis crew! How r things going Harleys4life, jbob0305 and whoever else? -
Welcome! Things are going great. Just finished school and orientation today. Will be heading out with driver/trainer this weekend. Can't wait to get out on the road. If you have any questions, I'll help if I can.
Good luck and keep us posted on how it's going.

What do u recommend as far as flashlight and gloves?
-
A good LED flashlight if you can afford one, make sure your gloves are good durable, leather ones. Several in my class bought heavy cloth ones and had to get different ones.

Hi Harleys4Life, I was just wondering why the heavy cloth work gloves are no good? Also, are gloves more or less needed for doing the pre-trip or am I missing something? Best of luck to you and stay safe out there!!!

Cloth gloves will allow diesel fuel to get on your hands. Also, leather is just better for protecting your hands.
