OH , I see . OTR drivers should be happy making $30,000 a year working 70 or more hours a week while many factory workers make the same working 40 hours a week .

Ever go to a strip club? You walk in and sit down and study your surroundings. Some dowdy girl walks over, plops down on your leg , "Wanna lap dance?" Annoyed, you say, "Go away." Some cute girl walks by, texting, texting, constantly texting. She walks up to you, still texting, and asks if you want a lap dance. No sale. The hot girl walks in, store bought boobies, leg from here to Japan, she has to be 6'6 in those heels. You stop her, ask for a dance, she excuses herself and tells you that it will be a minute. There's this guy that's been coming in for months wiping out half his check on the hot girl...she's going to take his money first and then she will work her way around the club.

"May I sit down?" You look up and see this pretty girl pointing at the seat next to you. Sure! Her hair looks fantastic, she smells fantastic, her nails professionally done. The costume she's wearing actually fits. She strikes up a good conversation and you actually enjoy talking to her. You buy her a couple drinks and she doesn't once check her phone. The hot girl comes by and asks you if you still want to get a dance and you decline. You give your money to this girl and you go home.

so, what does this have to do with trucking? The first girl had nothing to offer. She put the frump in frumpy. The 2nd girl was so focused on her phone that she couldn't do her job. The third girl had the looks, but she didn't know how to manage her time. She could have taken your money, THEN went back to get that chump (he would have been pissed, but he wouldn't have left). Instead she lost you to the 4th girl..

The frumpy girl is one of those drivers who think that they can just get a CDL and get paid good money. Didn't even bother to invest in herself to make herself more appealing (CDL endorsements) and doesn't care about her dress as long as she is comfortable (sweatpants, wifebeaters and flip flops)

the 2nd girl is like those drivers who depend totally on their dispatcher. Good experience, but you're waiting to hear back from a desk jockey instead of making things happen for yourself. The name of the game is line your pockets.

The hot girl is that driver that shows up in the same place to load as you, got that custom paint, matching trailer, normally sticks with what he knows. Makes money, but could be making much more.

The fourth girl is the driver that can take care of customers. Any customer. Make your customers happy and they won't mind paying for your services.

is there money in trucking? Oh, absolutely. There are company drivers that gross $100 grand. I was sitting at a TA talking to some oilfield tanker drivers. Had a typical dry van bottom feeder driver complaining about his $500 a week check. They told him about their $2500 a week check. Mr van driver said no....no amount of money would make him interested in the oil fields. 5 times the money in the same amount of days?

That $59 a day isn't that much . Some years you get only 80% of it . Then that amount is only a deduction , not a return . The simple fact is few jobs requiring any amount of training have such a high percentage of failure of newbies as trucking .

Don't let the name of your company be known or Schneider will show up trying to add that as a dedicated account .

Is a $100 grand good money. I know it is for a truck driver that's never home but is it that good. The average Costco shopper makes $85,000.

That's excellent money but I think teams make that not solo drivers. The average OTR company like prime, england, werner, you're making 25 to 30 k a year. Can't believe some actually think that's a good yearly salary. If you wanna make a satisfied waGe,you have to go with bigger and better hauling that the majority of the drivers don't haul.Like oversize, superize and tanker. But general freight not likely. What do you mean costco shoppers pay $85,000?
