This mandatory 30 min break will reduce the workday from 14 hrs to a 13.5 hr workday... It will affect drivers who work long hrs and operate irregular schedules. Surely it will decrease productivity per day...![]()

Running a load this weekend to PA from FL. Trailer was in drop yard, so wasy pic, but the way i'm running it will not be legal in two weeks. I stopped once in polk city , 2nd time in st Augustine x305, and rest area SC x47 i95, and Fuel in Manning SC x 119. None of these stops were over 30 minutes. Combined, sure. I did these stops for comfort. Delaying for a half hour would put me in jeopardy with my 10 hour hos break , and the continuation of the run tomorrow to be late for delivery. Sure I can adjust, but to my discomfort.

everyone is seeing the sky is falling it just isn't so
for OTR drivers anyway
you burn thru your seventy you say look at me 3459 miles you still have to divide it by 8 to see how much your running/day
just like me always on recap and over 3000 miles every week
and you can only drive 11 anyway how can 30 minutes off change the possibility of anyone getting somewhere on time
ok flame away I could care lessRaiderfanatic and scottied67 Thank this. -
Raiderfanatic Thanks this.

I don't need to be micromanaged. The driver should be allowed to have some flexibility. Then he could take his breaks when it suits him.
I am allowed to drive a 40 ton truck all over this country , but I can't figure out when I need to take a break? If this is the case why am I allowed to have cdl?tinytim, CertifiedSweetie and Rocks Thank this. -
if your not micromanaged your still on paper so the break is just another line being drawn

I rarely use a 34, unless I'm at the home 20, I always take breaks during the middle of my driving day... besides TruckerDawg sez he'll bite me if I don't! As for the limits on working hours... I added a couple of weeks up over the last few months, and I rarely manage too get over 70 hours on-duty in 8 days.
...but that's how I operate. For other folks, this is going to put a crimp in their style.
This is nothing more than the DOT secretary overreaching his mandate, to accommodate political pressure groups.
