What state do you live in? In Il you have to go thrugh the ISP and they dont give you a copy of your record, they just let you view it, for a $15 fee of course. Mine are 14 year's old and they show up, I have had a couple background check's where nothing showed up, dont really understand that one, for the most part anything in your past is going to show up because most companies use hire right, I dont think the small one's do though.

What about having a HIT SKIP on your driving record over 13 years ago? On a driver application it asks if you were ever involved in a HIT SKIP and I said no because I had it expunged. SO I THOUGHT. One company said it was on my record and they will not hire me now. It was a parked car late night and I drove 1/2 a block and pulled in my driveway. NO DUI or anything like that. It sounds so bad. HIT SKIP like I hit a person and fled the scene etc.

I'm ex law enforcement. What on earth is a hit skip? And if an application asks you if you've been involved in something, and you say no when you have, you've falsified your application, whether you think it's been expunged or not.

The judge told me to to say "no" when asked after that hearing when it was expunged. What's the point of getting a charge removed? Hit Skip was the charge. Those exact words are on several applications as well.

Odd that a judge would tell you to say something like that. In my experience if you say you haven't been involved in something when you have, expunged or not, and they find out it's an immediate DQ so just be careful about omitting stuff like that on an app. I've never heard of hit skip or seen it anywhere. What exactly is the charge?

The exact charge was Hit Skip/Unattended Vehicle. That is exactly what showed on the BMV report and the court records. I filled out an expungement form over 10 years after it happened and had to go to court to see the judge. At that time the judge questioned me and ruled to expunge. I asked "what do I say if ever asked about a record" He said "you do not have a record anymore", but he said "the expungement can still be seem by law enforcement but you keep this ruling with you for life and show it if ever challenged" I said, THANK YOU YOUR HONOR and that was it.

I understand what the charge says. What I'm asking you is what you did to get that charge? And telling potential employers you weren't involved in whatever that is when you were isn't working because you said yourself one company has already found out and DQ'd you.

I hit a parked car then drove to my house 1/2 block away over 13 years ago. No DUI or anything like that. I already received the form from the company that has denied me and they said to dispute the info from where they received it. Kinda like a bad credit report. I will show proof it should not be there and they will verify with the court of jurisdiction and that should take care of it from what the recruiter said.

Ahh ok. Figured it was some sort of hit and run deal, but wasn't sure. Well good luck with your process. I'm not trying to suggest you shouldn't get the job because of something 13 yrs ago. Just saying that people try to falsify apps all the time and usually get burned so be careful.

I told my recruiter that I had issues on my record and they should have been removed. She said she pulled my record and all is clear. I just wondered if they do another type of search at orientation. Either way I am going to talk to her again. Thanks for your advice. Makes sense. That's why I want it cleared from the start.
