Definitely depends on dispatcher whether you are truly pre planned. I would say 98% of the time my dispatcher has me planned a load in advance, if not more. I also have one of the better dispatchers to have. Drop and hook is hit or miss. Running out west I don't do a whole bunch of drop and hook, but I also have fewer loads per week. Midwest regional you might do more just because that's all we do it seems like if you're coming to Wisconsin. Waiting is also hit and miss. I'm now on my 2nd 34 hour reset in less than a week, but it happens.
H.O. Wolding is a GREAT company!

The only thing I don't really like is taking their job would be a pretty big pay cut since my current company pays me 40 a mile plus 1 cent increments yearly but lots of times I end up doing way too much sitting around and playing fetch for the more senior guys, and 40 after 14 is ridiculous . I love trucking but the pay scale has gotten way outa wack over the years.
You can make in construction in 4 to 6 months what a lot of truckers are making yearly. I'll put in an app see what the recruiter says. -
Last week the wife and I drove from Lake Cook Rd. up to Bristol, Wi. on 294. Round trip which is 66 miles, I counted no less than 8 Wolding trucks....When I retire from driving for the Post Office I think I'm going to check out driving for you guys for a couple years. I think Butch one of the trainers up at your terminal was my trainer at Schneider years ago.

That's a big area that you'll see us, as is US41 in Wisconsin, I90 in the Northeast, and southern Maine. And Butch is good people, always say hi to him whenever I run into him at the yard.
As for the low pay, that is just the base pay. They have a lot of accessory pay. Bonus, vacation, stops, layover, reset, etc. In my first year last year, I averaged about .38/mi but I don't know what the average would be for someone running Midwest regional. Best of luck with whatever you decide.tolson Thanks this. -
I'll see weeble and thanks for the information, you guys are great .
Also turned in an app. So I'll see what they say?Last edited: Jun 16, 2013

I have tremendous respect for you NorthEast drivers. The simple fact that I have not stopped this truck, ripped someone out of their car and beat some sense into them in a miracle.

Yeah those northeast guys have it rough... They don't get paid enough.
i just drop and hooked in Albion at our fiberglass customer. Trailer I hooked to has a tennis ball sized bubble in one of the tires, so here I am waiting in line at the Loves in Marshall to get it fixed. This load delivers tomorrow in Farmington MN and has a driver assist unload. I've done this load before, it's an easy 30 bucks. -
I would call safety about the tire, I hate taking care of other people's lack of post trip that costs me time.

Had request my first del reschedule. Feel a little bad about that. Picked up in Chester, sc 5pm Mon. Delivers wed 10am cherryfield, me! GPS has 20+ hrs drive time. Got stuck around wv, md, pa looking for spot to shutdown for about an hr at 2am. (don't think ill ever set myself up for that again!)
Have 1.5 hrs drive time..not worth split logging. Can't start again til 13:15 today.
Got ok for a 1pm delivery. With my Mercedes engine and hills hope I can make that!
Once I do that ill have about 5hrs left on my 70! Crap. When I accepted ppl thought I'd have 10 left.
