Im not sure. I'm not flatbed. As far as the physical I wouldn't do it at all. Roehl will call you when they want you to go for a physical. They pick the doctor. Talk to your recruiter about everything.

I plan on enrolling with RDTC this Fall, and have a CDL class C, so I already have my medical card which is still good through April 2014. Will Roehl still make me take another med card physical again anyway?

Yes. Most CMV carriers require that you go to one of their people. That MIGHT change when the medical provider certification goes into effect next year, but don't bet on it.

    Just a heads-up.

My OTR evaluator was a fella named Patrick Q.

    WHAT. A. GRUMP.

Negative, negative, negative. If you're smarter than he is (I've squeezed things out of my socks that are smarter than he is) he notices it surprisingly quickly and spends the next 10 days whittling you "down to size." On day 7 or 8 of my ordeal with him, I looked out the windshield and said, "Golly, the sky sure is blue today." He settled a little deeper in his seat, snorted and folded his arms, and said, "I've seen bluer."

Yeah. One of those. Mark you, this is only one man's opinion and should be taken as such.

Studying your state’s CDL manual is the best way to prepare for the exam. All test questions are culled from topics covered in the manual. There are no questions designed to trick you.Manual topics you’ll be quizzed on in the CDL permit exam include:
    • Vehicle inspection.
    • Communicating with other drivers.
    • Shifting gears and basic control of your vehicle.
    • Controlling speed and managing space with other vehicles.
    • How to see or anticipate hazards.
    • The dangers of distracted driving.
    • The dangers of driving while drinking.
    • Rail road crossing.
    • Driving at night.
    • Driving in different weather conditions.
    • Driving emergencies.
    • Braking.
    • Skid control and recovery.
    • Accident procedures.
    • The importance of staying alert and fit to drive.

I know Roehl mainly runs east of I35 but is there any opportunities once and a while to get to Arizona?

Are those fees only if you're going to get your cdl through Roehl, or do you need to pay those even if you already have your cdl?
