Covenant and Con-way also made the good & train newbies (conway being much more selective)

If I read it correctly for maint.

    Wolding 13.8%
    Halvor lines 20.4%
    Magnum 34.7%
    Transland TCSI 15.7%
Those are a few that haven't been posted here that are smaller companies. They're also some of the ones I'm interested in.

Heartland is buying and installing 1500W inverters on every one of their trucks that they're not trading out soon. Also all their new trucks have been equipped with an ESPAR heater. You might not like them and they only heat, no A/C. THey also give out roadpro cookers to their drivers. They have changed their idle policy in the last year to be more accommodating.

And if you are sitting in 115 degrees in Arizona, just how accommodating are they? If it's 115 outside, it can easily be 140 in the truck. Call us back when they decide that the life of a driver is worth the cost of an APU with air conditioning. Until then they just don't give a hoot about their drivers.

Its simple. 115 degrees and you idle. Heartland doesn't question you on that. Its when its 68 degrees out and I idle and don't need to be.

...and when you go over the idle allowance?

Be truthful now. I've talked to your drivers. Are they still forcing them to violate HOS on pain of loosing their jobs?

I think the top limit is you can idle whenever it is 72 or hotter.

That's the first I have heard anything about violating HOS. Heartland's CSA score on HOS is 9.4, which is the best HOS CSA score in the trucking industry that I have ever seen. And Heartland uses e-logs, which you can't manipulate. Score wouldn't be that good if drivers were asked to violate HOS.

Hos: these are 4 of the ones I'm interested in: They aren't nearly as big as heartland but have good hos scores.
    Van Wyk 4.2
    Kane 9.5
    Magnum 10.9
    Garner 12.5
