you rent the truck. and starve to death.
WHY???
your weekly payments are very very high. your mileage pay is very very low. and when you go down for repairs. you'll spend months trying to play catch up with those negative checks.

I got my start with England. My experience is that the only person I would recommend go there is my ex-wife. Their lease deal is the worst legal deal I've ever seen. They are a company that you go to if you can't go anywhere else, or didn't do any research.
Company driver will make more and you will not have any negative paychecks. Shouldn't at least. Their rates are low and lower, company or lease. Just... just don't. -
Also, I called a lot of companies for a friend of mine and Prime looks like it has the best numbers for someone looking to start, and will also front food expenses.

So I'm applying to Prime right now, but on their application, it says I have to put in a Prime Driver's name that told me about prime. And then I have to put other reason on how you learned about prime.... ####...
ANyone got a name they wouldn't mind me putting in? It wont let me progress the application any further without someones name. Not unless you want to sign up to be a Prime Lease Driver. -
Just wanted to add in, I'm only a student at a CDL school, but from doing as much research on here as I can, be careful with the company training programs, especially CRE. CRE is the place this forum refers people to if they can't find a job ANYWHERE else (Heard it said if you have to work for them, you shouldn't be trucking, lol). The thing with company training is you're stuck with that company for your contract time. You don't have certifiable driving training until that contract is up (they hold onto all of your papers for CDL schooling), hell, they might keep your cdl. The reason this is a problem is because many of the companies that offer these programs are bottom feeder training companies that treat you like crap. I'm not saying you can't be successful, but don't expect big bucks, good runs and friendly management/dispatchers, you're gonna be that companies slave for the duration of your contract date.
Again, just a newbie spouting out what he's read on here, but I haven't seen anyone on here recommend going to one of these programs yet. If at all possible, go to a private CDL training school or community college, get yourself financed and do the classes, then do your year with a starter company (bottomfeeders). I got financed very easily, and I had bad credit (doesn't matter for school loans apparently) and a college loan still out. Many of the companies that hire stuidents will pay all or a large part of your debt from it down anyway, so it's mostly a time investment before getting a job. Again, the best part of this is you're not screwed over if you have a problem with your first company, which happens a bit, cuz a lot of them will treat you like garbage, lol. -

Prime is a decent company from what I hear. DO NOT go into thier lease deal. Its Identical to CRE's. But as a company driver you can do well. Granted you will drive a 62mph truck, but thats good just starting out.
I did a l/p deal for my second truck from a freightliner dealership. The catch was you were limited to six companies you could drive for. Needless to say it was a rough two years with little pay. I made it, but I will never do it nor would I recommend anyone do it. These programs are designed to benefit the lessor, not the lessee. I financed my current truck and make great money with a $1300 truck payment. My advice, take a few years and learn the industry. Put some money in a coffee can and save a good downpayment. Finance a truck on your own and do some serious research before you lease to someone. Also, try and rub elbows with an established owner op, and gain as much info as you can from them. -
