Level the playing field? Sure, that means the O/O, independents, and small fleets will get the same fuel discounts, tire prices, parts discounts and credit terms, ect., ect., ect. as the "Mega" companies. Yeah, like that is going to happen. I get so tired of hearing that BS " Level the playing field" crap !!!!!!

What in the sam hill are you talking about? I'm not managing nothing if there are no loads dude get real. If the company is sleeping on the job and I sit for a day. Then they don't have noting leaving until the next day. I take a 34 rather I like it or not. Here are a few snap shots kinda hard to see. Cheap camera I guess. I currently have 68:16 minutes left on my 70 but in 2 more hours I'll have another restart. If This was July I know I could currently use this reset instead of the one I got Monday.
Also in the last picture I took a break which was 11 minutes only because that day I started at a rest area and not a truck stop. If I would of started at a truck stop would of never had to stop.

Big woop! That discount crap means nothing in the big picture. My equipment is bought and paid for and that is where I beat the mega's. No amount of discounts will make up for the huge equipment payments, employee benefits, and facilities overhead that they have and I do not. You guys stop scaring yourselves about how cheap the mega's haul for. They have fixed expenses they must cover and they cannot haul dirt cheap on every load. On a few yes, but very few. I beat the mega's consistently on revenue per truck. The only thing that scares me about mega's is the poor quality of their drivers I have to share the road with.landstar8891 and HwyPrsnr Thank this.

Good read, very informative...Just wondering about one small thing;did anyone ever ask a driver how much sleep he needs?I can only sleep about six hours a day. The other four hours I spend doing "whatever". How is that productive? Who sleeps for ten hours?
My issue with all of this is what HOS has created.Example; last week I was side swiped TWICE,in the same rest area.by trucks from the same company, once at 3am,and again at 430 am.Both incidents were by a trainee, with less than two months OTR experience.while their trainers were in the bunk sleeping!
Why were they driving at this time of the morning without supervision? One lady driver, a very nice young lady, did not even know which way to turn the steering wheel when backing up!
Maybe we do need more regulation, but can they at least TRY to make it sensible? -

Nobody has been forced to go to e-babysitters yet, the companies did it because they got tired of drivers who couldn't fill out a log book and got tired of being fined.

You have no clue. My company was told to put them in or be shut down. So have a bunch of others. You have to be kidding me if you think these smaller reefer companies are putting them in for the heck of it.
