A little about me. I'm a o/o of a 15' box truck. I have my own DOT,MC and insurance. I have been running for an expediting company for about 8 months. I have accepted the being out for 6 or 8 weeks at a time, setting at truckstops 2 or 3 days between runs and even the getting 15 mins notice to leave to go pick up a load. What I having a hard time with is that most runs I can't do and be legal with the log book. Monday they called with a run. 1800miles, but had 30 hours to do it. I turned it down, but I know now I won't hear from them for a few days. Thia is only the second load I've turned down in the 8 months, but every load I've taken,I've had to bend the rules a little.
My question is, Are there any companies out there that will contract you if you want to run legal?
    Is this a taboo subject?

We need more specifics . You say you have your own MC so who are the "they " giving you these loads ? The major expedite carriers generally won't give a solo loads over 500 miles although they do relay some loads longer than that .

I assume you're running solo. I can't answer your question directly, since I'm not in the business, but I'm curious about how expediting companies handle solo operators and expecting them to make a run that can't legally be done solo: are loads that scarce? Do you get stuck in no-freight areas? Are you allowed to look at load boards and find freight directly with your company getting a cut? If you have your own authority, can/do you book your own freight outside of the company?

"they" are the company I'm hauling for now. I don't really want to give names, in case someone there reads these forums, I don't want on the S###list yet. 500 miles would be great, I very rarely do less then 700. You have actually answered my question, there are companies that will let you run legal.
Now I just need to find one.

Yes I drive solo. I do get stuck in places were I d/h 400 miles or set for days waiting.I did try finding my own loads for a while. With a truck my size loads on load boards are kinda scarce(or at least the boards I've seen). I tried USHIP for a while, hard to even pay for fuel with those loads.

Not that it answers your question, but DEPENDING on the trip, (ie; all interstate, no drops along the way, etc) 1800 miles in 30 hrs is doable.

28hrs at 65mph avg. is 1820 miles 15min a day, PTI, for three days is 45 min, (at least until mandatory break sets in), that leaves you an hour and a quarter to load/unload/fuel, hope you have large tanks or get great fuel mileage.

Tight, but doable, esp IF your truck can run 75mph and you have some states with that limit.

You may have misunderstood. 30 hours was total time ,not driving time.

That's why I INCLUDED time allotment for fuel, PTI, load/unload. DRIVING time would be under 28 hrs. I hope you are not counting your OFF duty hours against your 70?

UNLESS you are telling me they wanted the trip from pickup to del. made in a 30 hour TOTAL window, if that is the case, it's time to look elsewhere.
