One place turned you down. Move on to applying other places and don't worry about it. Crap, I was turned down by pretty much every megacarrier, including CRE back when I was looking for my first job. I never planned on driving for one, and never did, but applied pretty much everywhere and anywhere to cover all of my bases. Found a good first job despite plenty of rejections along the way.

Being turned down by one questionable company is a big deal?

Oh come on, move on, don't have an attitude because if you are fretting over this issue without applying to 20 different companies to get see what happens, I hate to see you will be really surprised at something that is done to you or how you are treated when you are on the road.

By the way, don't assume that there are no professionals in this industry with spotless records, there are but they don't outnumber the steering wheel holders.

    OP,

    1) You need to grow a thicker skin. You'll need it to survive in this industry.

    2) A couple of weeks ago one of our drivers who has been with the company for 35 years celebrated 3 million accident free miles. We have even more 1 million miles accident free drivers within our ranks. Not everybody can do this but it does happen.

    3) As has been already suggested, make sure you are already pre-hired before starting your training. Why? Because the fact that CRE does not want you means there's something "icky" in your background. Take this advice and it will save you some headaches later on.

    Good luck.

Do a search on prehires here . They are meaningless . There is no way to qualify someone that hasn't even started training .

One company rejects- lie on a application and all reject.

You accident is not a death sentence. But if you lie and they find out then you'll never drive a truck.

Apparently there is, because nearly every bottom feeder does this.

I've read some of those post and I'm sure it happens but unfortunately guys who post with the nightmare scenarios tend to tell just one side of the story. Buyer beware I guess.

I would recommend an independent school instead of one thru a company just make sure the school is reputable not joe blows truck driving school they are usually a little more expensive but there are companies out there that will pay a good portion of the tuition while you work for them the school I used was road masters driving school they will help place you with a company before you graduate and even after you have been on the road for years

Many that were prehired get sent home from orientation because they were unqualified .

RickG is right, they're meaningless. A prehire is nothing more than saying that they'll let you come to orientation. Orientation does not mean you have a job.

They use them to sucker in people from taking a job elsewhere because they think they're guaranteed a job. I can't tell you how many new guys that posted here have said they're taking job with Company X over Company Y because Company Y didn't send them a prehire.

Ever notice that good companies don't use prehires?
