New head, pistons, liners and head gasket. It appears coolant is leaking from the head gasket externally. Anyone come across this? It's a cat 3406e. Not even 15 miles on the new head and gasket. Possible bad gasket? Cracked block or warped? I really don't wanna have to pull this apart again!

possible maybe the gasket got scratched.

but it seems like there was a thread started couple years back about some bad gaskets too. or something to that effect.

Have you confirmed it is the head gasket itself, or is there a leak from where else that is trickling down and following the head to block seam and just looking like a head gasket?

not so much liner protrution.(unless it was really screwed up!) could of pinched the o-ring that goes around top if liner when liners were installed if they weren't lubed properly. or one of the water orifices O-rings that was installed in with the headgasket was pinched. if the surface of block where those 0-rings go was (pitted) real bad the O-rings wont seal when you bolt the head down. another thing could be the casting has a pin hole defect in it.(seen that a few times with them.

someone else stated and I cannot say emphatically enough--PLEASE verify WHERE the leak is--actually coming from before you proceed--Might just save you a lot of grief--fluids do strange things--and go to/from all kind of places
