my husband and i drive team for werner. i honestly cant say anything bad about werner, not because we work for them but because we are happy there. our dispatcher rocks, we get good miles, good pay, benefits, good home time.

I work for Werner and I can say some weeks are bad some are good. I think with them it really depends on your DM. My first one was a jerk and if you didn't do what he wanted you to do or if you got a load to the con late he would not send you a load cause you were a bad drive even if it was out of your controll. The DM I have now is great he keeps me running (cause he hate me to call and bug him). He is willing to help me with any problem that come up and get them fixed right away. So I can't say they are a good company and I can't say the are bad. I all depends on you and how you want to run and if you get a good DM. So be careful when looking at Werner cause i have seen some drivers starve with them.

Werner is a very large company, many drivers and teams find a niche they can handle, we drove company driver team for 15 months, bought a truck from their fleet sales (don't get me started on that staff of sales geeks), we have been Owner Operators for 13 months now......Werner is a company driver based organization, they are one of the lowest paying carriers out there. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors when it comes to safety and truck maintenance, overall there administration employees will not give you much respect, in fact they have a tendency to treat with a lot of direspect. Owner Operators will make less overall than many O/O friendly companies, we drove 260,000 miles in 2007, averaged 84 cents a mile, due to there ancient trip mileage tru-ups we drove over 29,000 miles we did not get paid for, NO PRACTICAL MILES....Not even close, I will say because of their large employee base they have great health insurance. But all in all Werner is in it for themselves, they are one of the few carriers that showed a profit last quarter of 2007...YA THINK, they might give some back to the drivers that made that happen...NOT!!!!....they are also the company that has not given any pay raises to drivers or incentive based pay in over 5 years.....We are not able to make it as owner operators at werner, of the $231,000 miles we got paid for last year, that brought our corporation $256,000, but we spent $122,000 on fuel not to mention maintenance and upkeep...84 cents a mile + 34 cents FSC- with cost per mile you make company driver wages at that per mile pay. We made over $100K the year before as comany drivers, less this year but we do have a great truck we purchased from them, overpriced and they take all your money when you do their financing, 10 cents a mile maintenance fund, extra 3 cents a mile truck payment, approx $350-400 a week truck payment, monthly charges for truck insurance, bobtail insurance, $175 month per driver for workmans comp, $12 mo for prepass, etc, etc,oh YAAAA, half of what you earn will Be taken out of your earnings for your fuel, then at the end of each month fuel taxes, mileage taxes...If you buy a truck through their 12.75% financing be prepared to still feel like a company driver, except they control ALL your money...so you better be prepared to run your azzes off and run your truck into the ground to make ends meet, don't forget to get thos $159-225 oil changes, and other teatments for anti-gel, coolant...and oh mang this will hurt, many of you might buy a truck to control your hometime....HARK....don't plan on any hometime just because you think you call the shots.- YOU WILL GO BROKE!!!!....We financed all our own stuff recently, other better paying companys are out there so we gonna sing and dance and we gonna hit the road jack, we ain't comin back no more no more no more no more!!!!!!
