Hello everyone I'm looking for a decent heavy haul company I can work for. I don't have the year experience in heavy haul that most companies require I have about 6 months pulling a rgn. This September I will have 5 years driving experience and everone of thos has been pulling a flatbed. Does anyone know a company that offers a good training program. I want to go ahead and thank the people that reply. My goal every since I've gotten a CDL was to get into heavy haul btw I have a XT endorsement

I'm from Shelbyville Tn which is about 65 miles south of Nashville
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I'm not that familiar with heavy haul, but here's some to check:
I was born & raised not too far from you, just North of Nashville. Left there a few years ago.
Pape Transfer Inc., Dubuque, IA (excellent reputation)
Rinaudo Enterprises, Inc
Anderson Trucking Service
Lonestar Transportation
Keen Transport
R.E. West Inc. in TN - not sure but think they haul oversize boats & other stuff out of Livingston, TN. They have a van terminal in Ashland City & headquarters in Lebanon, then the flatbed heavy haul in Livingston, TN. More info. on their website.
System Transport - has a heavy haul division, hauls a lot of wind turbines.Last edited: Jun 21, 2013

Without much experience I would recommend Lone Star out of Ft. Worth, TX. They will work you up through the levels to as big and heavy as you want to go. Decent company to work for and probably some regular home time based on where your located.
Just an FYI, the bigger you get the less home time you'll get. If I were to stick to less than 14' wide I could be home every week but because I do 18'+ I can at times go for 2 or more months without seeing home. -
not to discourage ya, but experience is usually a must. start out small, just oversize and work your way up to heavyhaul. we all had to do it. prove yourself dependable and they will fight to knock on your door.

yea like I said I got about 6 months pulling a rgn...yes I know that's nowhere near enough and I still need a bunch training im just looking for a good starting point

I believe that ATS has a training program where they will start you small and then work up to the heavy haul and multi axle equipment. ATS is out of Minnesota, but operates nationwide. You may also check with Bennett out of McDonough, GA. They have several divisions, including heavy haul.
