Do you prefer 80 or 90 getting out there?

80-84-691-91-84-290-90-495-95-295-95. That's how I usually get home. They don't want you to take 90 unless you have to because it's $117 to go across NY. It's also a boring drive IMO.

Interesting. I wonder how much it costs to use 294 around Chicago compared to running through the city.

I have no clue, but they route us around it so I would assume all the starting and stopping burns enough fuel and the cost of maintenance to offset the price of the tolls. Or maybe because going to the NE there is a practical alternative route to the toll road. Good question then, I've wondered it myself.

YOU have to take the initiative when it comes to tracking your hours of service. Your dispatcher probably handles several dozen drivers and keeping tabs on all of you is simply too difficult. 70 hours divided by 8 days is 8.75 hours per day. If after 4-5 days you see that you are averaging much more than this then you should send a message to your dispatcher telling him or her if you want to stay out, do a reset on the road, or head home for a reset. Sometimes they can toss you a softball where you can show 6 hours a day for a couple of days and bank some hours so that you can stay out. Other times they cannot. But don't expect your dispatcher to keep track of your hours. They generally start paying attention when your options are more limited. Waiting until you have two days and ten hours remaining leaves them with very little to work with.

In Sidney, NE with a flat. It's been a while since I've had one so I guess I was due. Gotta keep an eye in the sky as I'm in a tornado watch until 8 tonight. Good times.

Sitting inForest Park, GA, got here yesterday at 1800 and tried to get unloaded early but they couldn't fit me in. Don't deliver until 0100 tonight. Will end up with over 36 hrs on a 287 mile load. And all this after getting in a 34 just south of Nashville.
