I have NEVER heard of a turbo dying due to a lack of EGR valve. ECM throwing codes, sure.

That said, the Pete guys in IL told me on the pre dpf Cummins to expect a couple EGR valves, 1 cooler & 1 turbo per three year increment.
    Never bought the truck.

Drove a 475hp isx for 1.5 years before I left that job. Had the odd egr issue, but never had the turbo replaced. Worst thing that happened was a pinion bearing went to hell one day and messed up the differential assembly.

My 05 isx on only went through 1 turbo in 940000 miles. I did 3 egr valves in 600000 miles then I disconnect.

We've gotten plenty of miles out of the turbos on our '06 and '07 ISX engines, some near a million miles on the original. The most common problem for ours is egr cooler failures.
