Sin, we haul glass, but not as much as we used to. It's no big deal. And the only heavy lifting you'll be doing is your tarps and chains.
Chase, we do hire out of NY. And there is no tuition reimbursement unless you pay for it out of your pocket, I believe. I wasn't able to get the full details because it was friday close to shuttin down time when I asked. You can apply now, get the ball rolling, and then when you're done with your school get a date set up for orientation.

Im wishing you the best, I just need to get funding and I'm in. never thought things would be this hard to move forward, my step dad got funding day 1 and was in school by his second week of researching. things sure have changed.

Are you going to a private school or through a company training academy. I'm assuming private. IDK how it works in all areas, but I was able to get into CDL school here in NY at NTTS because I signed up for their 18 week 602 hour class. That course lets them be accredited and do federal loans and grants. Of course, now that I'm 6 weeks into it, I wish I'd signed up for some lousy company training instead, cuz I'm broke now and for the next 4 months and am bored out of my skull, but it's the safer bet to go private.
Anyway, I would advise just going in and talking to the recruiters at the schools and see what you have for options. I don't imagine most people go into trucking because they have 10K in their pocket and/or great credit, lol. I wish I had just gone in and talked to someone earlier than I did. -
Central Tech is a D.O.T. certified state run school in Drumright Oklahoma south of Tulsa. Funding should be easy Consider W.I.A. grants but Oklahoma is claiming lack of funding for truckers, even though i hear other truckers are being funded 100% by W.I.A.

If that school is even close to mine, which I'm sure it is, they're going to have people who know how the system works and how to get you money. My school has it's own loan officer. I don't know if you have already, but if you haven't, seriously GO TALK TO THEM! lol

Noggin, I have a offer from Melton from one of your recruiters. I have a few questions....maybe you have answers?
1. I live in Biloxi, MS. Do they make many deliveries along the I-10 or get down to the deep south very much? I'm hoping that I won't have too much trouble getting hometime.
2. What comes "stock" in the truck? ie (converter, refrig. ultrashift? manuel?)
3. Loaded/unloaded miles?
4. Bring the truck home? Park in an approved lot?
I'm narrowing my choices, and Melton is #1 on my list for now. I've had offers from most "starter" companies. -
1. We run along I-10 frequently, but they will deadhead you if they cannot get you to your area. I live in Houston and have been dh'd from San Antonio and from south of Dallas.
2. Only thing the trucks come with is an invertor that is hooked up to the APU. Majority of trucks are 10 speed, however there are a few autoshifts.
3. Paid the same for loaded/unloaded miles. My averages usually end up around 2200-2500 a week.
4. You can bring your truck home and leave it in an approved lot. Truck stops preferred, if it's a private lot it has to be secured and Melton will probably ask for written permission from the owners. -
Thanks for the quick reply. Do you come my way very much? I am liking Melton more and more. Melton? Roehl? Total Trans (of out MS)

Just received an email From Melton saying they would do paid training during orientation, with a long list of things that seem very positive. I would love working with them as a starter. Now my final hurdle, financing for my schooling. IM going to study a bit more on those practice exams until i get a 100% on my General knowledge. D.O.T. physical on the 1st if my doctor will actually download the paperwork to do so. I am so close to my goal i can taste it.

I am having a problem with funding, Where WIA helps other drivers on this forum, my state claims it will not help me. And workforce rehabilitation will take 3 months just to see if I am accepted to go on their endless waiting list.
Unless I can Get Workforce To Approve the whole 2,800 for WIA, I will have to go to company sponsored. I was really hoping on starting with Melton too, The emails and web sources all point to melton. I just hit a brick wall and am wondering how to proceed.
