KW W900, T800, with a Custom studio sleeper. www.customstudiosleeper.com I am in proceess of buying one. (long ways off yet) They dang near use every sq in available. I have been in a couple when they were being made.
They have a stool/sink/shower unit. Its not ready for open road yet. (the shower raises sink/cooking surface up) It works great (in shop/when truck level) but when they tested it under normal conditions they said it stuck after trip if truck (something like 15 deg.rees) from level. (just a tap and it worked but they won't put them out till its 100%)

You are right my friend. Alot of companies these days are running automatics with a lane departure warning and send a message to the company if you are following too closely. I'm fresh to the business but certainly old school at heart. I don't like all of this extra room in these little short nosed trucks, or the close monitoring, rough ride, or alot of the amenities, shoot, I don't even like cruise control

Companies will soon have something that in their trucks that will send them a message saying that the driver has not taken a shower for three days straight.. And if you don't take a shower you'll get a warning... LOL ALL THESE NON-SENSE IS GETTING OUT OF HAND FOR REAL.. Me personally will never be part of it.. By the way I own a FLD120 but PETERBILT 379 EXHD IS MY CHOICE..

When deciding on what trucks to buy, personally I wouldn't be thinking about what the drivers like. I would be buying trucks that are fuel efficient, best suited for the particular job you are doing and that the weight of the truck is ok for what you are hauling, dependable and also that are easy to get parts for and repair etc... Brand new trucks aren't always the best either. Sometimes buying a truck with 100,000 on it is better than a new one because it has already had all the bugs worked out of it. If you are buying a used truck be sure to look for things like tire wear, service records, warranty etc...

You can get some really good deals on used trucks because the large companies out there turn over their entire fleets often and there is actually a surplus of them. $35,000 - $45,000 could buy a really nice used tractor with a sleeper.

There is also the option of leasing through companies like Paccar. You can actually lease an entire fleet of trucks.

If I'm paying for the fuel? A new Volvo 670. Cummins power with an Eaton 13 speed. 8+ mpg hauling light loads.

If I'm forwarding you the fuel bill? 379 with a big kitty, of course. 5 mpg downhill if you're lucky, but you look like a bad ###.

Right now, I'd take one where the AC in the bunk worked like it should. First day of summer, it went out. Surprise, surprise, surprise!!

Why reinvent the wheel? Take a look at the premier skateboarders and use their spec as the point of departure. Ask your drivers whether they want to donate $.02-05 cpm to the Haslam defense fund or get it in their settlement checks.

Today's engines don't need 18-spds and, as a Detroit fan, you have to seriously look at what they're doing with the DD15/DT12 combination. With the predictive/adaptive cruise control option in the Cascadia Evo, you're looking at the future. (Hey, I like to think I'm pretty good at shifting gears, but the fact is that these modern electronic engine/trans combos can do some tricks that both improve performance and get better fuel economy.)

A cool truck with a big motor, an APU, big inverter, great seat, all the toys, looking good, is a good start, but show me that I can trust you, that we're in this game together, and I'll drive it forever.

    Good luck in your search!
