quick question about the new restart

The minimum period is 34 hours. Most drivers driving day-time schedules will be able to obtain the 2 nights in a minimum 34-hour restart, if they need to use the restart at all. For example, a driver who begins a restart period when going off duty at 7:00 pm on a Friday would complete the minimum 34 hours off duty at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday. This would have included the required 2 nights off between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Only drivers who have a regular overnight driving schedule and who work more than 5 nights a week will need to take longer restarts to obtain the 2 nights off.

Ok so lets say you do start your restart at 7 PM Friday, does that mean you have to wait til next week Friday 7 PM before starting another one.. or do you have to wait to start your new one when you come off your restart that week like say 7 AM Monday morning?

O.K. my question regarding the 1/2 break before 8hrs driving time. It will be logged off-duty and come out of the daily 14hrs,right? Which actually means we have 13.5 hrs to work.

O.K.If I'm right so far-As I will now be running a LOT of re-cap- Let's say I have a day of 9hrs running re-cap. Does this .5hr break then actually make the day 8.5 hrs? And after .25pre and post trip..Actually an 8hr re-cap day????? Anyone following this.?

And so: On a 9hr re-cap day then...25 hr pre trip. Drive 7.5hrs. Take .5 break. Drive one more hr. ,25 post trip. And all is good with the D.O.T. World concerning this??

The break is OFF-duty. It does NOT count on your recap! Your pre- and post-trip are ON-duty and DO count on your recap. Only lines 3 & 4 count on your recap.

    Bumpy Thanks this.
