I too have a Verizon account. Don't use the Verizon prepaid service, it's junk. For large downloads, I'll sidle up to a Lowe's home improvement store or hotel with free Internet access.

i'm still not grasping the concept of having a wifi/mifi. when you phone can do the job. and not cost you that added fee for the device or monthly service.

but then, i can't understand the concept of having an mp3 player, an ipod, an ipad, a gps, ereader, or a mifi.

your phone can do ALL that. and then some.

I have the Samsung s3 and it doubles as a wifi hot spot. I'm up to 18gb a month and my bill would be comparable to having a phone, Internet and petty cable at home. I also stream Pandora daily. I am thinking about getting xm/sirius for football season. Havent decided yet. I would assume my data usage will drop a bit when if I don't stream music all day.

i agree but i have an iphone 5 through sprint i use it for phone quick glance at load info (email) and mp3 player hooked to my stereo but alas i have a RM 720 for GPS which i trust A LOT more then my phone (still use big map though) and have the laptop for general browsing youtube that sort of thing

my verizon mifi now theres a funny story i have it because it actually works out cheaper to have that through verizon AND my phone through sprint for the amount of bandwidth i would use

it was either spend 185 after everything just to have my phone which is limited spend 210 and i get sprint phone and sprint card or pay 160 for sprint phone with the plan i like and verizon mifi with 10 gigs

Have you tried reading these threads on your smartphone? You will need glasses in a few weeks! I use my phone for most things like GPS, email, texting, music, etc. However I would never want to watch Netflix on it. I have my iPad for books and movies as well as my laptop (MacBook Pro) for the hardcore stuff like resumes, word docs, spreadsheets, and file storage. In my opinion it is best to tether your phone for wifi IF it is not extra and does not eat into your data plan otherwise it is a waste of MONEY. I believe most people need a phone and laptop, my iPad really is my book reader and game playing device. As a History Major, I was buying and reading about 10 books a month. My wife got tired of living in a library and every one I could buy online I sold to Amazon and bought via Kindle App or in iBooks. Saved money, space, and my marriage!

    Verizon/Phone Hotspot Unlimited Data (Grandfathered)
Use btw 10-20 gigs a month.

I pretty much use it on any dowtime.
Waiting for Loads, Reset. During my '10'. Waiting to be Loaded/Unloaded.

I don't have a TV or Playstation or anything like that.
The Internets on my Tablet snd my XM is the only entertainment, I have out here.

Did I do my math right? That's 803.71 bucks for 20 gb.

Only 70 bucks with Millenicom. I'm very happy with my Millenicom 20 gb (verizion network). The 4g is much faster then my iphone 3g and i can even use the wifi on the iphone to get 4g speed on my iphone. It also had service several times today when my iphone did not. (both Verizon) I was driving the backroads of WV all day and the Millenicom has had some sort of slow service the whole time. Even when 50 miles form any highway. My Cell just said "No service". Right now i am on 79 and its supper fast. Full bar 4g. I can streem video right now. Speed test said 9.8 down and 10.7 up. (respectable for a cell device.) I live in PA and not once since this week-end has my Millenicom had no service.

I used mifi on my iphone for a while. but kept going over on data. That a cheap solution if you not a power user. It will run out though and wont be as reliable as Millenicom

I have the Millenicom byob plan with the sprint overdrive pro unlimited for 70.00 a month. And so far so good. Has anybody had my plan and switched over to the Verizon gimmick ? Just wondering if the service is better?

I do the wifi thing where ever I can find it. J’s, pilots, Petro’s, TA’s and loves I use the reward points to pay for it. But at peak times my computer is slower than a snail. I looked into the hot spot thing and you only have a couple options and they are all mention by the people who have posted. One thing I looked into was ‘on board satellite‘. You get TV from satellite why not internet. I talked with Direct TV and Dish and mentioned that if they could come up with something affordable, easy to use and install, They would sell millions. I have Direct TV on my truck, I cant mount the antenna on the truck, company truck, so I just put it out when I need it. But why cant I get internet with it? There is Hughs Net but they don’t make anything portable. And it wont work with VuCube. That was all I could find, doesn’t mean that’s all that’s out there. I dont have a smart phone but I do have the sprint data plan so I get some internet on it.
