    Hey Boom,
What company are you speaking of in this post? My fiance is working with Baker Hughes and hasn't done a job in 3 months (cementing)! His base salary is WAAAY less than that. Most are saying 2800 is peanuts and we only wish he was making that! He's looking now for something else, but no luck so far...

We've had about a month thats slowed down to nothing, all this rain is making a mess out of the roads but a day and night full 24 hour crew left this morning and the job board for them said ' pack for the hitch ' which generally means bring enough clothes for 2 weeks. Of course my rotation has just gone into days off, about a week of it I was in calgary for getting driver evaluated and staying in the Service Plus just near the deerfoot casino. Made some good expenses money.

Btw, my salary is 4k/month but I'll be moving into yet another position soon (cementing, to frac to crew bus to... Field Tech )

Field Technical Support, ie Techy, ie - insurance policy on lease... :D
before I got my Class 1 back in 2011 I was an office / network and systems administrator.. on frac they go out with transport (n2/co2) the crew, crew cabbers, supervisor.. blah blah.. well there is usually one mechanic and one techy in the group.. both are there as eyes/hands on for calgary to quick fix anything broken, for me its replace circuit boards etc, network horsepower units that kind of thing. Its quite good hourly plus datavan bonus.

I havn't got it yet, but I've been first in line for the last 2 months, calgary had cleared to hire now and my main supervisor is going shift me into the position pretty quick it seems.

    Waiting on the official word...

Yup same here. However I just got a call / phone interview yesterday with Teck Coal down in Elkford asking me if I would be interested in joining their Heavy Haul Truck Operator Program. We had a good 15 minute discussion and I'm through and set for round 2 / face to face interview in the next couple of weeks.
