You bought a truck and plan to drive with 0 driving experience?
-
Yes but have time to learn, i think everyone started this way,I have owned 3 other semi that i made RV out of, I bought a 2004 Kenworth for 12k,just trying to get things going,Plus my best friend has been trucking 20 +years , my Nephew is a Master mechanic for Freightliner,in dallas
Chinatown Thanks this. -
No one starts that way. Except for the lease purchase suckers, almost none of whom last a year. No person should even remotely think about buying a truck until they have at least a good couple years experience under their belt. How many miles does that truck have on it? I'm not trying to put you down or discourage you, but do you even know anything about this industry? The regulations, the demands, etc.? Or are you just jumping in cold turkey? Trucking isn't something you just wake up one day and decide you want to do, trucking is a lifestyle. Are you prepared for that lifestyle? Practically leaving behind everything at home and living on the road for two weeks or more at a time? Most people aren't cut out for this lifestyle, which is why this industry has an almost 100% turnover rate.

As far as hauling someone else's trailers, check with the company, some have an age limit on the tractor. Contrak in Dallas is one company to look at. Check their website.

most of the outfits with age limits are cheap and want to keep you broke and hungry. Example On December 31 2013 tractor is 5 yaers old and acceptable. but not acceptable when 6 years old. What happens between dec31 2013 and January 1 2014?. Do you see where I am going with this?Nothing changes

This ought to be ingesting to see what happens here. I have always wanted to learn to ride a motorcycle. Never thought about buying one before I have a license and some kind of minimal training.
-
I bought a brand new motorcycle in 1984. I had the salesman ride it to my house. He showed me what the various controls were for. I rode it around the house once or twice and then I was on the road.
Of course, I eventually crashed it 4 times and got my license revoked for six months.
The only time I have come close to dying was on a motorcycle.
starting out with your own truck leased to a company would most likely pay better than starting out at new company driver wages. Just as long as you have money saved for repairs. -
Oops uh oh,geez Im just batting a thousand here too. Lol Ok I think that's it though. Hee Hee
no wait a min,I also bought a car at 13 ...Oh well glad things have changed since then...lol
I wouldn't dream of letting my kids do things the way I did then.
