It is never too late to get back into trucking. Keep on working at it and I am sure you will land something. I trained for swift for a while and had a 70 year old guy as a student that was out a long time, best student I ever had, plus I got hear what trucking was like in the 60s and 70s. Guy had some good stories, I learned a bit of history while training him. It is doable, I have been out of the trucking industry myself for a year and a half getting stuff straight with the VA for my benefits, now I got my benefits and decided to use Voc-Rehab for college but I am not happy though and miss the trucking industry. College isn't for me. I drove tanker for prime and had a good time doing it. Looking to go back to tankers myself. I wish you luck fellows.
