LOL. I actually became a lease driver today. I know lots of people say its a bad idea, but I have spoken to many lease drivers and the ones that run make money.
The lease program is better than most I have read about. A quick breakdown of my lease; 2013 cascadia with 60000 miles. My fixed costs per week are $730. That includes everything except fuel and any escrow accounts I elected to start. The first 6 weeks the truck payment, which is $535 are deferred. There is a $2300 security deposit which is taken the first 6 weeks at $350 a week instead. Pay is .85 empty with a flat $.10 fuel surcharge brining it to $.95 a mile. Loaded is $.93 a mile dry and $.98 for reefer loads plus a surcharge that varies based on national fuel prices. This week it's $.44. So loaded pays $1.37 to $1.42 per mile.
If at anytime I choose to end my lease I will lose my security deposit, and in all honesty probably most if not all of my maintenance account ($.07 a mile) after they inspect the truck provided I bring it to the yard for turn in and in good shape. They do not list any negative info on your credit report or dac. You also have the option of going back to the company side.
Lease is 3 years with a huge ballon at the end $42000 if you choose to buy the truck. I have no illusions about ever owning this truck. All I want is to make a bit more cash and have more control over where, what and how I run.

Sorry to hijack this post. All I'm trying to say is not all training companies are bad, and I think the other posters are spot on about doing your research before going anywhere. There are a ton of companies that will treat you like slaves and pay you the same for going to their schools. But, there are decent companies as well. I picked the best fit for me and it has, so far, worked out well.
Also notice I have never mentioned my companies name. I tend to find if you say good things about a company you are accused of being a recruiter or an office employee. I am neither. I'm not a seasoned vet, just a newbie steering wheel holder with a lot of respect for this industry and the men and women who choose this life. -
Good luck friend. I hope it works out for you. You are right that not all training companies are bad, but those are unfortunately few and far between. I'll never understand why people still sign on with companies like England despite all the horror stories and negative publicity it gets. Personally I stayed away from the company schools.
