Not saying it is normal, but I've seen it before.

If you're still up and reading, make for dang sure that you are EARLY everywhere. Dragging in late is a sure fire way to find yourself out.

70 the norm? Depends on the week. I'll bet right now that by Friday it's 35, and perhaps 20 will make it through to get their CDLs. Maybe 10 will actually get to the point they run A-seat solo. Nothing is guaranteed here. You earn it.

Can someone that has been through the training please explain why so many don't make it? Seem like a very high amount of failure. The few things that come to mind is that they bus anyone that has an application and wants a job to train gets a bus ticket. My recruiter ran my criminal, driving and verified my employment history. I heard that many get sent home for things on their record? How can someone get sent home for a record if they checked it already? Of course there may be a few that just had something pop up within a month or so etc. I can understand that a few can not drive or a few can not keep pace with the class.

Trying to conceal something in your background will get you tossed immediately. Medical problems. Drug test failures. Folks who don't belong in a truck. Folks who get homesick. Folks who can't take the stress. Folks who have accidents while in training. Any detected use of alcohol during training.

    Only the best survive.

That's in contrast to third-party CDL mills where everyone (even those who don't belong in a truck) get a CDL, places like CRE, Swift, etc where everyone get CDLs because they don't have enough meat to fill the seats.

Really? I've had a few trainees that were the best and they still quit.

A few morons that did themselves in in a spectacular fashion, and even a few more who are like ####roaches that somehow skate by without the system managing to finish them off. (I'm not talking about death... A little bit of destruction... No injuries... except maybe their pride)

You tell me how to stand in the way of someone's career when management wants them in a truck and you've got nothing to say but "this guy hasn't done anything wrong, but you better keep a close eye on him cause I think you'll have problems at some point. Here's why...."

Hell, there are two guys I recommended we cut loose. These guys sweet talked their way into getting a different trainer. "Personality conflicts". My butt! Personality conflicts being that I don't think they can do the job and they think they can. One washed out with another trainer. But that ain't enough to just take my word for it.

You got to have them "dead to rights" on a screw up.

O wee what a week finaly made it thru , now i'm just waiting on a instructor to hit the road for my psd training. That pre-trip inspection is really alot to learn, can anyone give me any advice on how to prepare or what method they use to pass the test. I have never driving a truck before an trying to remember all the pre-trip is overwhelming, so any advice would be appreciated. Oh and one more thing i came with my permit and i highly recommend you do the same ,you want have much time to study it was alot of people that went home because they couldn't pass the test. :biggrin_25513:
