say...anyone do the New Haven/Paramus run, with the layover? Just wondering if there is a truckstop closer to Paramus? I'm thinking I'm gonna close down at Milford in the morning....but if you guys know a closer place...might just go there, instead!

I was having a good solid week till now. Down waiting for service to get here. Heard a loud pop come from the trailer now I've got a very loud annoying rotating squeal/squeak/hiss/horn blowing sound coming from the left side trailer wheel/hub area. Can't see anything wrong and no obvious air leaks. Had a couple of drivers comment on it coming into the rest area as it happened and had them look under and around as I pulled back and forth nobody could see anything out of the ordinary and nobody's seen or heard anything like it but something obviously very wrong back there and air and/or brake related rotating and very loud. At least it happened a mile from a rest area and I was able to get in there and off the road.
Oh well. Hurry up and wait and kill the good week I was having lol -
so here's one for the you don't see that every day file lol
we know the principle behind a bicycle horn. squeeze the bulb, air blows over the reed and you get that annoying bicycle horn sound.
now imagine you have one 10 feet long and corresponding diameter lol that's what just happened with my tire. left front inner had a small slice in it. not even visible less than a half inch long. but all the way through. must have run over something small I didn't see in the road.
almost an hour before the service guy figured out what was wrong. pull up. annoying horn sound. back up annoying horn sound. pull up back up pull up with him laying under and beside and around trying to figure out what it was. finally had me go really slow and stop when the sound came. and it was loud lol almost painfully loud.
that tiny tiny slice was closed off when the tire went around but when it came around and down and the weight got on it it pursed like a set of lips and the cut was just right that it acted like a reed and the #### thing blew like a bike horn on steroids lol
waiting on a tire to be brought out now. 4 drivers looked at it as I pulled up and back and they tried to figure out where the noise was coming from and even the service guy was stumped for almost an hour. said he'd been doing service work 11 years never seen anything like that before.
clock is running now guess it's just going to be one of those days. get to the cons and have to be worked in so guess i'll be out of hours there. -

BOOM flop flop flop flop flop.........another #### tire......but this one wasn't quite as subtle and insidious as the first one. blew up like a bomb 1/2 mile from the weigh station on 81 past Winchester. on Friday on the way home. usually how it works.
started out strong this week and end up with less than 2000 by the time I get in tomorrow.
after the first tire I ended up getting a store load out of Minersville and then a pickup going back up there. 13:30 blown on 300 miles for that day...... 95 was shut down so that killed the return trip until the next day. they were detouring everyone off onto us40 but it was just as bad. i'd probably have done better to sit in the backup. 1:45 to go 11 miles to the shipper once we got off the big road...... got as far back as Harrisburg and had to stop. could have gotten there with 13 minutes left but that just isn't happening since there's no parking anywhere close to there. just had to wait till this morning. not going to end up like the 6 guys parked on the side of the road at the 119 with the pretty yellow parking tickets stuck in the windows lol been there done that that piss ### little town isn't getting another 50 out of me.
what a day yesterday and day before was......get to the cons after the first tire wednesday at 1530.......they made me wait until 2230 until they finally called me to a door and unloaded me last after everyone else and took their sweet time doing it. after midnight before I finally got a green light........at least I got detention for it and didn't have to ask for it but they were really snotty. guess they expected me to run all the way there and be on time on a flat tire. acted like it was my fault the tire was flat..........get up the next morning and run my empty from chambersburg to hanover and drop it, then bobtail to minersville from hanover.......doing that store load and then the pickup. I can tell you there's a REASON they run those daycabs and volvos out of there. what a bunch of tight turns and tiny roads. nothing like 2 lane rural Pa lol....... getting in and out of the store was an adventure enough just outside Baltimore but then up to Aberdeen for the pickup and it's one of those places where you pull in and they tell you your drop spot and you pull around and see where it goes and laugh and think 'you want me to put it WHERE?' hahahahaha right. it took me 15 minutes to get that trailer in that tight little hole surrounded by concrete barriers on 2 sides and barely enough room to walk between the trailers on either side. I got out and looked 10 times if I did once. even the guy in the yard truck was squeezing and wiggling into those spots.
could have gotten home tonight if not for the tire. gotta give the kid that changed it credit though he had his act together. once he finally got there he changed the tire in 15 minutes without even jacking the trailer up or taking the rim off. on the trailer, at ride height, on the side of the road, popped the other one off and new one right on. looked like he'd done that a time or two lol couldn't have been more than mid 20's but #### good job. I've never had a tire changed they didn't jack it and take the rim off. this kid put them all to shame.
so, no reset this weekend I guess. pitman for 7am Monday. roll up there with a reset and get there with 3 hrs left or roll without a reset and get a 10 there. hell of a choice. on the plus side the way the week has gone have enough hours banked still that recap shouldn't be an issue next week. break it to the wife gently and see how that goes over lol I may end up going late night sunday after all but being honest no recap probably will be better for the week instead of dealing with the timeframe i'll be looking at parking all week if I do reset.'
these new rules are REALLY going to suck a big one. -
don't know about you guys....but this new HOS is gonna get some "getting used to"! I left and went to Asheboro for pickup, this morning...had 7:14 when I arrived.....only took 45 minutes to load me and I had 6:29?!?!?!?! When I pulled out to close/seal trailer....didn't move not even 100 feet..I had 8 hours AGAIN! Still had to pull over at a rest area and "goof off" for 30 minutes! Then I got 2 hours BACK! THIS BLOWS! I feel REALLY lazy on this kinda schedule. SCREW THOSE DARN LOBBISTS POS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

alrighty...day 3 of new HOS! HAHAHAHA I think I have the hang of it now! Not to mention...sdaniels and I have Tina this week! SHE'S BEEN AWESOME!!!!! So far, except for Monday(just because I was getting used to the new 8 hour rule!) I've rolled around 550-600 EACH DAY! THAT'S THE WAY IT IS DONE! no 30 minute break for me(in a way). I figured out, if you roll all the way to 3 hours left on your trip...finish it in the morning, take break at ship/rec. and you'll have a full 8 to roll! Works like a charm, so far. But, there WILL be days it really won't work like that....mine will be next week for the rest of my time here! ####! Looks like it's gonna start being 7 days out, then restart. DM said I would run on my 70 one week, then recaps the next week. They CAN'T tell me when to run and when NOT to run. And the recap week will be NOTHING but 1000- each week! Planners will think I don't have hours for good runs.

well...complain ALL YOU want about messed up trailers....I relayed a load with a LIVE SNAKE IN IT! I picked up at Charlotte yard, with them even knowing FULL WELL(and driver that picked up load) there was a live snake in it! It was going to Garysburg! So I called dispatch...told them what was up...they just said....don't mention it...just drop...ok...haha so i get there and get questioned left and right about what was on my trailer...until I told them....there's "supposedly a snake in it....I'm just relaying the load"! So I get BLAMED FOR THIS?!?!?!?!?! The driver that picked up the load KNEW DARN WELL THERE WAS A SNAKE ON BOARD AND SEALED IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lowe's even went so far as to say I "told them" there was a snake in the trailer! OK....I, "technically", told them, but only after they kept asking me 500 TIMES what was IN the trailer....I kept saying...you got the bills...READ IT! haha They had a heads up about....had to have...either the driver...or the shipper called and reported it! UCKED UP if you ask me!

Qualcomm says freight of all kinds! Back in my air freight days, we had a alligator get out in the trailer. Airborne was not happy! Some rule about shipping endangered species ? Feed it hamburger , seemed to like it! Once they found which box it came from , two people had a bad day !
