So, let me get this straight.... you are advising him to work longer and harder for.....around the same amount of money??? WHA??? Oh now that's good advice. And, I am not sure, but since you worked there did ROEHL change the way that they spell their name??
To the OP: Dude, go with Maverick. You will NOT be disappointed, I assure you. You will get the pay and hometime you are seeking, and you will be treated very well and you will have great equipment. And the training you will receive is the best, so you will feel confident with what you are out there doing. I promise.
Maverick or Prime or Roehl?

Well the op is grown and can make his own decision and as far as maverick they tell you in orientation that only 1 driver is still gonna be with maverick after the 1 year mark yeah so must not be that great of a place the miles suck at maverick try 1700 miles if that, so yeah I rather work harder and get paid more then to sit 4-5 hrs waitin to get loaded at gerdau and n. American stainless plus this would be his first driving job and starting in a auto isn't a smart choice if he decides to leave maverick he's not gonna know how to shift properly.. As far as training I have maverick their credit with their training home time please you'll get home sat and leave Sunday night or morning yeah great home time.

And if you read the quote you would see I said I made more money not around the same and that with out per diem

I'm doing fine on miles getting 2300+ per week on most weeks, except when I'm home.
I used to have problems with getting more than 2000 miles per week, but I discovered that if I actually work and stop griping to my FM all the time, all of a sudden I'm getting better runs and more than 2300 miles per week.
Interesting concept I think. Even though some weeks aren't perfect, ever since I started running more than 500 miles a day when I was on a load (even if I didn't have to) things have gotten better. Maverick ain't gonna bother giving you the good loads if you ain't gonna work.
Almost all of the drivers i know get more than 2000 miles per week. So your argument that the miles are low is wrong for most of us.
And as for that crap about it being a bad place to work because only one driver is left at the end of the year, that's BS. That kind of thing happens mostly because people jump in and don't know how hard it is to do flatbed. But even considering that, Mavericks turnover rate is 59%, which is half if what the rest of the industry can claim, and that's including Roehl.
Just my two cents worth.jxu417 Thanks this. -
Where can you find out turn over rate? Is there a site or government report? Interested in Roehl turnover and Prime.

If it's a good number, you'll see the company talking about it (Like Maverick CEO Steve Williams at the recent congressional hearings.) or noting it on their recruiting websites. If a company has poor performance (high turnover) they'll cite the industry norm that is north of 100%.
Good luck in your search.
--- As an FYI, I am a Maverick wannabe who like you, was searching for the right company to join up with. I've made it through the approval process and am waiting for the call on my orientation start date. I was looking for a high integrity company who looked like they were going to be able to win in this "brave new world" of more regulation, more enforcement trucking. I also dig their trucks, but that's a different story. -
WTF-J Do you have your CDL? I see that you are a wannabe Maverick driver and wasn't sure. I just passed my DOT physical today and Roehl offered me a pre hire to run reefer or flatbed. Maverick is right there on my list too.
-
Yes. Have had it for quite some time and have driven OTR for ~6yrs
-
That means a lot to me that you with 6 years experience wants to go with Maverick. Proves what I have heard about them. I need my CDL first that's why I asked if you had your CDL wanting to go with them. GOOD LUCK!

I'm a new driver, just got my CDL in March. I can't speak about any other company but I honestly have nothing bad to say about my entire experience with Maverick. It's hard work, and you do have to hustle.
My first 2 weeks in I drove ~1700 and ~1800 miles. The first week I had a tire blow and I suffered some heat issues in New Orleans (my blood has definitely thinned out by now!) so the lower miles couldn't be helped. Last week I drove ~2800 and when I deliver tomorrow (Tuesday) I'll be at 1294, setting me up for another nice week.
My 'mock' PFP score is decent, but I expect that by the end of next quarter I'll get the full bonus. I did a lot of research and Maverick was always my first choice. If my track record holds I'm quite sure I wouldn't see this kind of pay anywhere else for a rookie driver.
Driver turnover is bad across the entire industry. For my part, the things that make me want to quit have nothing to do with Maverick. Had I done somewhere else and not been treated well I doubt I'd be sitting in a truck right now.123456 Thanks this.
