Ok let's say the place I'm leased to let's us log on duty not driving for 12 hours strait. No more than 12 hours uninterrupted on line 4.
if we go over 12 hours and or 100 Air miles we do a regular log. Per what were told from corporate. So a regular otr log is required.
So do I have to flag my 30min break during my 12 hours on duty not driving aka line 4. With local work in the comments section?
im just wondering whats is legal with local work now and what changes it. I get several time stamps all day so if I have to log a brake it's going to be a pain to make sure all my times are kinda reasonable between my last time sta incase I goto court because minneapolis has the worst drivers in the world. I just want to make sure things are correct. And maybe someone could clarify this with a reg so I could help out my dispatchers.
I'm leased to a 23 truck company so they arnt always rite, and I just want to make sure this gets cleared up with facts.

My situation is probably a bit different but may help you some here.
I talked to an Ohio State Trooper today that told me in regards to the 30 minute break:
1. If you are doing "local" work (so falling under the 100 or 150 mile radius clause) you do not have to "log" your break but your company does need to keep records of your hours & breaks.
2. If you are going beyond the radius, then yes, you do need to keep your book current and also log your 30 minute break within 8 hours of going on duty.
Hope that helps some and I know all states are different, so hope it does help a bit. -
It's federal rules so state rules have little to do with the logs. If you want clarification from a LEO get it from a DOT officer and not a cop. -
Good point but after about 5 phone calls to the DMV (clueless), DOT offices (was told it's "enforcement" I needed for my questions),and then was told to call our state patrol and speak to Mr. SoAndSo who handles all the "CDL/DOT stuff" these were my answers given. You can not be on a break if your on duty, or driving. This is quite simple you have to log off duty for 30 minutes during your fir 8 hours of being on duty oor driving.

I cannot change from line 4 has to be continues. I've tried that befvore. All the o.os ive talked to all say diff things. This sucks.
so can someone try to help correct log local work in mn? If I could road log I would. But I can't flag that much stuff at all. -
Anybody have an idea? I don't cross state lines and drive in mn only. 100 air miles.

Page 5 says I don't need a log book and nothing about a break other than 10 hours after 12 hours on duty time.
i guess it's up to the company I'm leased to how they want there fancy piece of paper. -
Amen to that, but isn't that the way it usually works. Don't know the rules but enforce them... Gotta love it!
*Sigh* Yes you still need your 30 minute break "within" 8 hours of going on duty. Being local, you do NOT have to log said break but if you're doing a book anyways, just log the #### thing and call it a day... Better to play safe than let one of the "good guys" catch you up and give you a pretty ticket.
