Yes you can get your permit in MO, but you do have to pay for it. Check with the recruiter on the cost also.
The hassle is that you are going to be busy and without a permit in hand when you get there you are going to be alot busier studying and what not. Just less stress to get it out of the way ahead of time. Plus if you have a brain f@rt and blow the tests a Prime you get sent home, if you blow them at home, you just go back and retest.
I believe, but not sure, that you get 3 try's before you get sent home.

Yes if you come to Prime have your Cdl Permit from your home state. It makes life so much easier to get through the the classes in the 1st week by not having the worry of having to study to pass the permit test.Last edited: Jul 2, 2013

I can say honestly that I am here now and the word "LEASE" has not come from anyones mouth trying to push or even advertise it. As far as the permit you can get it in your home state or here. It does help if you come with a permit, but can be done here. It is true that some states like Illinois do require a complete retest before you can transfer your CDL. I dont know why so many people claim they cant get a strait answer. Its not hard if you ask the right questions. My recruiter couldnt have been more up front with me, but then again I had enough sense to ask what I needed to know. Prime does have a long training process. But its what you make of it. If you want to be on your own in 9 days this definitely is not the place for you but I dont personally think you get your moneys worth in 9 days. Just my opinion. Read the post New to Prime INC - What to expect (Springfield edition) that was mentioned above and talk to people that know or talk to a recruiter. I personally have no complaints. Good luck to you.

Let me wander over to any Roehl thread and spout off about things I think I know and have heard and seen in the truckstops, highways, shippers and recievers.
How does that help anyone looking for Roehl information? How does GoBlue's less than one year of experience and his employment at Roehl qualify him to answer questions about Prime? He talked to a "supposed recruiter?" Sounds like he is not sure. Is there a serious lack of people around here with experience at Prime to answer these questions? No, and Im talking about opinions from both sides of the equation.... Good and Bad.
Its hard enough for a new person to slog thru one former driver's bad opinion and a current driver's great opinion to come to some consensus on a company without some people who have never worked at Prime feeling they need to add in what they think they know, or what they've heard without ever working at Prime.
Im sorry I was busy driving today and didnt have time to answer the guy's question in detail. I did have just enough time to stop the abomination of bad information and point him in the right direction where to get started.
Now if you'll excuse me, it might be time for me to head over to Roehl section and offer up whatever rumors and observations I can. Having never worked there, but driving and parking alongside their trucks apparently qualifies me to answer any and all questions and offer opinions about how things run over there.awbro and newbietrucker007 Thank this. -

@newbietrucker... no one will "hassle" you to lease at Prime. As another new driver mentioned, you will most likely not even hear the word. When I started, the only thing that I heard was the fact that there is a lease program. I had a few other drivers describe their experiences with it, and I asked some questions.
Ultimately when my training period was done, I chose to run the company side. I spent nearly 3 years on the company side, and was never pressured to lease or train. When I did decide to switch, it was my decision. I asked for the revenue information on my company side loads, added my expenses into the mix, and determined whether it was feasible to make a go of it as a lease driver before I jumped. I also asked a ton of questions, especially of anyone who was successful at it.
I'm glad at this point that I did decide to jump into a lease, I just finished one, and am doing well. I also know a lot of folks who would rather not be bothered with a lease, and they do well on the company side. It all depends on what is right for you.Charlami Thanks this.
