My reply, and not being a jerk, but take what ever you company gives you. As a new driver don't worry about what kind of truck you get, as long as it runs.

Poll question not working.

But seriously, if you are just starting out, you don't know what you will like and what you won't. Try out as many as possible and then you can decide the answer to that question for yourself.
Just remember, if you go to a company strictly because they have a certain brand of truck, then you will be going for the wrong reason. A company can, and often does, change manufacturers based on what "deal" a manufacturer gives them. The company I work for used to have very nice trucks with boatloads of cabinet space. After several years of those trucks, they decided to go with a different brand and a smaller model. I, personally, despise the truck I currently drive, but it's what I'm issued so I live with it.Last edited: Jul 3, 2013

Well I'm not a brand new trucker. I've been driving a W900 for almost a year and my company is switching over. I guess Kenworth wasn't doin them like they had wanted. That's why I asked. We aren't for sure if the company is switching to freightliner or international and I just wanted input on which truck was better or at least what people thought the better truck was

Not sure how many months must pass before you can drop the word "BRAND". Either way, you opened the door to your lack of experience. Since you are not sure what manufacturer your company is getting, and unless you have veto power or other input into what shows up on the yard, in the big picture, what difference does it make which one is better?RERM Thanks this.

It does matter. I was offered a choice between Beverly Hills or some slum. I'm not comparing these places to any brand of truck, but I'm sure you'll understand. I can't speak for the new internationals, but Cascadia turns better than a pre 2006 International 9400. If it's a long nose truck it matters when you are in a tight place, especially for a new guy, and especially when backing. I've been driving freighliners mostly since 03. The internationals that I drove handled the road better than the Cascadia I now drive. Frankly, I would ask if there is an internal or external apu, can you idle the truck, or does the truck have opti-idle. I can't imagine sleeping over or next to a lawn mower every night, but that's just me. In my book Beverly Hills is an internal apu or espar. An external is the slum. However, if my espar goes out, which it has, my company restricts my ability to idle the truck. In other words I might be freezing in winter or sweating in summer.

I drove a Cascadia and after a few days of getting used to it I thought it was a great truck. However the company switched to Prostars because of all the warranty hassles with Freightliner. I never drove a Prostar but I am seeing more companies buying them.

With the Prostar the big issue is the motor. If it has the new Cummins 15 liter then I would go with the Prostar. If its the 13 liter Maxxforce, then I would go with the Cascadia. Navistars are known for their computer problems lately.

I personally like both but I have a preference for the new freightshakers, they ride & shift real smooth

I've drove both..2012 Prostar and 2012 Cascadia.
Cascadia pulls better.
Prostar is quieter and rides better.
Both turn tight and have good visibility.
You can't go wrong with either one.
