I never blew a steer but caught it before it did. Unloading a the receiver and seen my steer was going down, after getting unloaded went and got a new tire, Nail in it. And ast year was North Bound on I 85 in my Old F100 Pick up and Passenger side tire seperated and Blew when they took it off the tow truck cause they had to tow me to get a new tire, or wanted more money.

Tires can go bad fast. A few weeks ago I started driving (did a pti first) and later got pulled into a mn scale for a level 1. Left the scale two hours later with a clean inspection and got twenty miles down the road and blew out a trailer tire.

Well, when a steer tire blows ussually the first thing you do is say it S*** , then do it . After that it's not as big a deal as you would expect. You should be holding onto the steering wheel solidly anyways. Just mash the gas till you regain control of your bowels and the vehicle, then slowly decelerate onto the shoulder and stop. Whatever you do, do not hit the brakes, let the weight of the truck slow you to a stop till you get to a managable speed. Walla :)

This was really sad and so many people stopped and tried to help him. They could not get the windshield to break very fast and since the accident one person said he has invested in Res-Q-Me devices just in case. I can vouch that even on cars the side door windows are almost impossible to break too.

There was another incident of a tow truck drive who blew a tire awhile back and he ended up hitting a pillar on an overpass and was killed.

    Be safe

I don't know about anyone else, but every time I fuel and at every pre-trip, I really look at the steers for any signs of failure and/or foreign objects in the tread. I honestly don't see many other drivers doing this. I've never blown a steer tire, or a drive tire for that matter. Woke up to a flat drive one morning (or going flat....valve stem developed a leak and needed to be tightened back down and re-inflated), but that's it.
