He has a very good idea here especially if you are looking for picker op work. I do not know any details of with what is going on or what they are wanting to accomplish out this way but the power companies right now just out of Edmonton around the Cardif area have a few crews of guys with picker trucks working on big power line towers.
Who knows getting on a crew like that might be good.

If your talking about the power line project around gibbons and fort Saskatchewan, I'm working with them delivering all there steel and moving there equipment around. For me as the trucker I'm making better money doing this than when I was delivering pipe. I work 12 hours a day, get paid 55 bucks sub and my hotels paid for. Some line workers though are apparently making over 50 bucks an hour.

I was just posting that you had a great idea there for the other guys asking about picker op jobs. I am sure if they could get on with them they would be making some good money without the hassle of even being on the oilfields right now. From what I see right now things are a bit slow out there for some of the crews due to it being such awful weather and yes I was referring to that.
I still sit around here looking for work and really I am not far from either of those places you mentioned. Kind of sad actually. I know that allot of pipe is being hauled around as well as equipment of various sizes and types just no go for me yet.

If you want to see some crazy stuff, there are some videos on Youtube of the linemen that work from helicopters on those 500 kV lines when they are live.

What do crude oil haulers and rig movers roughly make? I've heard they are both pretty good. But what's pretty good?

Rig movers are anywhere from 30-40/hr depending on if you're just pulling tri hi/lo, running bed, or pulling wheels.
