The WIA grant goes through Arizona Work Force. It take a minute to get the ball rolling on it, but a good program regardless. I have a friend who applied for it and was denied based on his income. From my understanding, the longer you've been unemployed and the less money you have the better off you are applying for this grant.Last edited: Jul 7, 2013
Yohner Thanks this. -
I am excited for you. At 51 I am SO tired of the corporate sales world. And recently divorced, it's time for me to do something for ME. I have wanted to drive professionally for decades. You're an inspiration.

swifts training program isnt too bad i am currently at there phx center instructors are cool they use several trucks to train there students with they have trucks dedicated to each skill test ie straight line 2 students per truck practicing that there is 6-10 trucks roughly I will count them tomarrow there are trucks just for offset backing and parellel combined as you do those 2 you do a loop around the course practicing shifting you and another student as instructor watches and trucks just for 45 degree alley docking, and more trucks just for the road training, typically its a 2-3 students per instructor on road training. it all depends on how many make it through the first week and than to the second week we started out with 27 by end of week 1 went down to 11 had one guy do his pre-trip early and failed (over confidence) so has to repeat week 1. so far i cant complain about there training but when i went to AIT theres was great and not so rushed as swifts 3 week classes. With swifts training you do not have to go with swift either you can get your cdl and try to get on at another company and pay swift back the 3900 for the training. this training is easy on me do to me already knowing how to do most the stuff from AIT so i cant speak for someone who has never driven before but other classmates are getting it just as well though some dont but that is par for the course.

I just enrolled. I start on the 22nd. Pretty excited about it. Wish me luck.

You won't need luck. Your drive and commitment is all it will take.
OK. And, good luck. -
Thanks. I think. Lol.

Interesting so is the range time for the school bus endorsement also included? You graduated with all of your endorsements?
-
The bus endorsement is an additional fee. I don't remember how much. I have all my endorsements with regards to driving a truck.
-
I believe the endorsements are $10 each at the DMV except the hazmat which has its own fees and requirements. Was just wondering if they trained you for the bus endorsement while you were there. I have toured the campus and I know they have the bus to use for the range training, just didn't know if that was included in the package.
