So glad I live in an OLD suburb!! We don't even get towed if we forget to park in the driveway in the winter - they just honk at us - MOVE YOUR CAR! LOL
-
Well, it isn't always laws that are passed by any municipality that lead to this sort of thing. It's neighborhood covenants established by homeowners' associations. They tend to demand things like no above ground pools, siding on sheds must match the house, and yes, no parking of trucks in driveways.

I used to have neighbors that called the cops every time I brought the truck (only) home. Cops would come, give me a ticket. I would fight it ($18.00 ticket) and lose. City would waste 1/2 hour of court time and still only fine me $18.00. 23 tickets in 3 years. The city eventually quit ticketing me. The people eventually moved out. But AFTER they moved out, they saw me bob-tailing home one night, followed me and before I could get out of the truck, the cops were there, saying they had a complaint that I was "blocking" the street. Cops said I was obviously NOT blocking the street, and asked if someone didn't "like" me, or who would keep complaining. I told him I knew exactly who kept complaining and pointed out the ex-neighbors parked down the street. He shown his light on them, and they sped off. Haven't had any problems since.

Note to all communists who voted for these stupid laws... please DO NOT move to Alabama. I moved away from the Communist Republic of Midland, MI, in part, to get away from stupid laws like this. There are no retarded laws where I live now and I kinda like it that way.
A few years ago, I received a letter from the city of Midland informing me that my 1984 Ford van was in violation of the city's ordinance against abandoned and unregistered vehicles being parked at a residence. It was NOT ABANDONED and had CURRENT registration and plates--it was, however, very ugly and rusty and I only drove it to the lumber yard every once in a while to get wood. I sent them a very sarcastic letter along with a copy of the insurance and registration. I remember saying something like:I wouldn't even consider living in a city of snobs anymore. -
In trending the way things are going these days, being in possession of a commercial vehicle could bring stiffer fines than possesing crack or marijuana.
Far fetched now, I know. But give it 10 more years. Kaliphornia will be the leader in this crusade. -
Covenants are usually stupid. I'd never live in a community with them. "No fences" so the dogs go poop on YOUR yard. "No sheds" so you just leave your junk lying in the yard, etc., etc., etc.
It's getting really ridiculous and I don't think they should be allowed to bring them into a neighborhood when they weren't there when you moved in. (had it happen to us - we moved - we had dogs - no way we could NOT have a fence) -
In my small town, they passed several annoying laws.
One was if the vehicle was not used very frequently. I had 4 cars all licensed and insured. They were always checking on them.
Another is the vehicle over 10,000 gvwr rule. Intended to be aimed at commercial vehicles but not properly done. This is to be aimed at truckers.
They also limited the number of dogs to 3. -
Every time I read about these stupid homeowner's covenents/associations and stupid city ordnances and busybodies who call the cops all the time for ridiculous crap, it makes my blood boil.
Some people need to be told where to shove it. -
I don't think my neighbors will complain about where I park my truck as that I have 184 acres. Thinkin' about having a truck rodeo, but can't find enough bulls. lol
PS:I enjoy all the posts I read from you 'tarps. very entertaining.
