I am not a trucker but I am curious to know why I always see trucks parked on the side of entrance ramps to the interstate or in private plazas near the interstate. Is there really a parking problem in Florida? And if so, where is the worst parking problems? I live in south Florida and tend to view this more here than elsewhere in the state. It seems to me that your job is hard enough without having to deal with the extra burden of no place to park!
Thanks for the hard work you do and for any honest replies!!
Is there a shortage of parking in Florida?

yes, there is a shortage of parking. When I was down south there, I was either in Ft Pierce or had to go all the way to the 595

Not a lot of places in between to stop. I went north as that was the direction I knew where my load was going to be coming from. -
Ditto MNdriver. Southern FL is probably the worst part of the state for parking and number of truck stops. But parking is a very prominent difficult issue for truckers in hundreds of markets across the nation, especially along the northeastern lanes. After dark in Carlisle PA for instance you can drive through each of 5 different large truckstops for literally hours before you're fortunate enough to hit an aisle just as someone was leaving and before someone else got it. Imagine the malls 2 days before Christmas on Saturday ... some truckers deal with this sort of situation daily if their freight keeps them mainly on a day light schedule. (they call them "solar operated trucks" ... at dark they need to or want to shut down)
What makes it really difficult is it puts drivers in violation if they can't get parked in a safe spot for their mandatory 10 hour break before their 14 or 11 hour clock runs out. -
I was just addressing s. Fl. I won't go into other markets.
Some places even going so far as to ban trucks period. -
And just about EVERY OTHER STATE TOO!!!!!!
PEOPLE WANT THE STUFF THAT TRUCKS BRING, BUT YOU BETTER NOT ARRIVE EARLY AND YOU BETTER GET THE FLOCK OUT OF TOWN AS SOON AS THE TRUCK IS EMPTY !!!!!!!!MNdriver Thanks this.
