Regardless of what may or may not happen with the government in the future everyone has made you choice for you. You know you like the other job in NJ better but that little drop in pay is eating at you. You're just figuring pay vs pay and adding no other benefits into the job. You have to consider all the ups and downs. Take benefits first. Do you have a family? If so you should have had medical coverage yesterday. Start investing all you can into your 401K and be sure to get the max donation you can from the company. What about dental, eye care? look for Long Term Disability and Short Term. There's also benefits that will not be effected by any changes. Look for those and see how it affects you. You time away from home is something to look at plus job securement. But I think you're set on what you want to do. Just don't burn any bridges changing over and always leave on a good note.
I really need advice from my fellow truckers!!!!!

Amamzin how y'all can turn almost anything into a political argument!
IMHO--the real answer is how well DO YOU--handle YOUR money--if you are good with it and can save and invest--then don't take the cut--if you are more comfy with help from employer--which is just fine also--then the bennies and 401 would actually mean an overall NET increase---
and ALSO IMHO--considering the area you are running--the amount of time you are putting in--BOTH of these jobs are horse####===6 days a week 11/12 hours a day in the NE--you should be bringing home a minimum of 50% more--and with any experience at all and a good safety record--YOU should seriously be looking elsewhere!
Just my $.02 -
I'd go to Venezia

That's the right answer.

I always say, there is a need for truckers right now. If your company isnt the best possible fit, then jump ship to something that is better. Personally i don't think 993/week is very good for 3200 miles of driving, but that's up to you.
That being said, try to leave on good terms so if you find out the grass isnt greener you can fall back. -
You would be better off with Venezia. They are not the best out there, but they are very stable, and the pay is just a bit higher than average.
The other political stuff, although true, can't be avoided by being where you are now, so get squared away as best you can before things go downhill. -
Yes dont let facts get in your way . " a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush"
-
Benefits, vacation, paid days off.............and what was your question again?
-
go for the bennies the pay will increase over time

Something has to be done with the health industry. I don't think you should lose all that you have because your health didn't hold up, or some accident put you in some bad shape with a boat load a debt that will never get paid off.
For some reason there seems to be some thought being passed along that government is bad, evil or something.
We use the roads, hospitals, schools, army, police, airports that all was build by the government.
I think having companys send jobs out of this country, big oil having us pay $4.00 a gallon, and drug companys having us paying through the nose is worse than anything the government has done.
