Hello. I am an American that will be obtaining my CDL within the next few months. My Fiance is Canadian (Toronto) and we are planning our future together. I have heard a lot of good things about Alberta and the current boom. I would like to know if there are entry level jobs avalible to non-Canadian's. I know that several companies sponser foreign workers. I have done extensive research and haven't found anything that tells me how to go about the process. Any words of wisdom?
Thank you in Advance.

Being a transplanted American I think you are going to be hooped until you are married and have obtained your residency status. I know when I first came here I couldn't work until I became a permanent resident. I did get a work permit in the meantime for a specific job but I could only work for that employer and could not attend school The employer and I had to jump through hoops for that permit. Things may have changed a bit since then but it will be a long process, good luck

There is a fast-track process for veterans (I don't know anything about it, other than it exists... Google is your friend). And your U.S. CDL will be of no value as you will have to test here to get a Canadian license.
Bing Thanks this. -
When you say veteran, or you referring to military veteran (which a I am) or veteran drivers? Thanks

This is encouraging. Thank you.

Does that only apply to the CDL? When I moved up here, it was very simple matter to transfer my regular car license from my state to my province(Quebec).

It applies in Alberta (I expect other provinces are similar, but have not checked) for license classes 1-4. (Obtaining an Alberta Driver's License: http://www.service-alberta.ca/1671.cfm).
