710 had the issue, not the 510 and it was the DC cord which was an easy fix by slightly squeezing the USB end of the DC Cord.

    Thanks,

A reflash of the OS might help. I have the files. It is about 500mb. I would have to send via a zip file.

    Thanks,
    Makr

Locking up and freezing are signs of a power cord issue. I have only seen/heard of the 710 having this issue. Mainly due the larger power requirement to run the HD screen and charge the battery. The 510 does not have this issue.

DieselBoss does an outstanding review of all models.

    Thanks,
    Mark

And backing up what you just said. We indeed had very few power socket/cord issues reported back to us from a seller support position or in testing on the 510 model. It wasn't zero on the 510, but it was not in any abnormal levels verses a half dozen other brands/models we were beating up at the same time.

And we still highly recommend doing a 3 second strain relief effort regardless of brand or model (when practical) on ALL electronics in a big rig, as a rule. I'm not going to argue the philosophy of what "should be" here. But Uncle Sam pounded a "best known methods mode" of operating into my brain under the guise of keeping the gear working while it's being shot at. I just haven't been able to shake that mode with stuff.

Restating the original intention to answer the specific question? Same answer. If a driver can obtain a new 510 from a reputable dealer at a significantly-reduced price, AND be eligible for the lifetime maps on it, I would personally recommend it unless the wifi capability in the 520 is a “show-stopping want” in your case.

In hind sight I see my error though. In the future, I think I will not reply to posts that begin with “Hey Mark” even when I know that you are off the grid for a bit. (lol)

    Welcome back.

Unsure about the mode question. When I click the wifi logo then fuel prices it generally will work for a minute and give me one fuel price. If I click along my route it will say something along the lines of "unable to find any check your Internet connections". I check my Internet and I'm fully connected with a strong signal.

I apologize if this has been mentioned before, but I just skimmed the last few pages...

On the 520, the eta doesn't seem to factor in speed limits (default seemed to average over 60mph for a CA to OR trip (55 limit the whole way). It also gives "speed limit reduced ahead" warnings when the limit drops from 70 to 65 or 65 to 55 -- neither of which affect the truck speed limit (which it correctly displays as 55).

And how do I turn off the hos nanny? I have e-logs so dealing with pop-up messages when I stop or 1 mile after starting is just an annoyance.
