looking for a heavy haul company

can someone tell me who would hire a 21 yr otr driver (reefer, hopper bottom & livestock), no tickets or accidents; only down fall on me is i'm a felon from 08. does anyone know who would give me an opportunity?

 

Try Anderson Trucking.. Not a great company.. But you will get experience with OD loads. They have a grade system.. D is something like 10 ft or less. C is a little bigger, and so forth. With A1 you can haul anything. But you had want to be gone for about a month at a time. Being back east you are in a better place than the west coast, and you might want to get a TWIX card and a passport as you may go to Canada.. Good luck!

 

Don't do Anderson. They require that all of their company drivers be able to go to Canada and you won't clear customs with that felony. The only way they would take you is if you agreed to do that lease purchase deal...and I wouldn't recommend a lease deal to an enemy. Not just theirs, any lease deal.

you didn't leave your location. If you were in Texas, I would say try Palletized.

 

Depends on what felony is.. Have you looked into getting it expunged or getting a pardon from the governors office? You won't get a driving job if its for drugs, and a list of about 10 different felonies. I think if you poke around the DOT web sites you can find the list. Now I do know that there used to be a few companies that have a program through the government to hire ex felons. And alot of firms only hire 25 and older. Try going to bulkloadsnow.. They have a job section looking for drivers.. Most want experienced, but you may find one that will train... Good luck.

yes it is a drug felony; I have a driving job now pulling a reefer but want to get into flats. as far as twic goes I don't want 1 & probably couldn't get 1 if I wanted it, pass port not interested either.

 

Look into that expungement..try record be gone. Or try getting a pardon from your governors office. That will help .. And your 21 and this was from 08. So you were a minor less than 18? Are you sure that this hasn't dropped off as you were a minor. I know Nevada will do that.. Go to that record begone website and they have people that should be able to answer that question. With that gone.. It should open alot more doors.

 

Most carriers require a felony to be from 5-10 years old before considering you. Check the company listings on this and other trucking forums for their requirements. You may also check with smaller carriers. Depending on the offense, they may be more accepting of a felony conviction.
