It's like this... the biggest expense in running a trucking company at $3+ a gallon for diesel is fuel. The last time we had a fuel price spike, thousands of companies went out of business because folks wouldn't reconsider that heavy foot they had. Prime installed the fuel economy program, and actually expanded during the Great Recession, and gave all of the company drivers a raise afterwards.

Right now it's achieve 7.5 mpg week-over-week if I recall correctly. They'll turn you down for a bad case of lead foot from where you start at. If you continue to have trouble, they'll invite you back to a training truck. After that, it's an invitation to orientation at CRE.

Check with the recruiter on beneifuts to be sure, but I believe it is after you upgrade to A Seat.

Trainer is there to train you, I would think he would be working with you the 1st week or 2 after PSD training to ensure you are doing ok, before he started running teams with you. The TNT phase is to give you additional experience and training.

Is it ok to bring a laptop to training? Will it be secure at the hotel?

Yes, just remember you will have to sleep with it in your bunk during training. Also don't depend on getting internet when stopped at night unless you have a hotspot card. Verizon works the best I feel.

After you're hired. Generally that's the date you get your fuel card/company ID, IIRC.

Of course you can always go lease. I sense IP has a bit of contempt for company drivers, and considers them to be in the lower class....

Do you get paid anything while in orientation? When does the $600 a week kick in? I have looked at the Prime website, but it's not the friendliest site for info! Thank you for any help you can provide!

Nothing during orientation. The $600/wk starts once you enter TnT. Until you get your license, you only get the $200/wk advance (and that starts on Friday after you get your ID).
