that school is really more interested in teaching heavy equip. they do the cdl training as a second thought.
the difference between the courses is the written test. if you are smart enough to read the book and take the test and go get a physical on your own you would only need the short class. That said there are better options. if you got the time Waukesha County Tech College does CDL training, but it will take a whole semester.
Millis seems to have a pretty good program, I know a couple guys who run for them and love it.
Also in Wis if you are a do it yourselfer who only wants a CDL and then off to other things, there is a place called Pro CDL. They charge you per training hour. If you think you can get the hang of it in 10 hours and then take the test in a rented truck, (they rent them) you can get it for cheap. They claim to have a list of companies that will hire their "grads" do your homework though. I called around and couldn't find any that would take you without going back through their school. small companies or dump operators might take you though.

DTS is the true definition of a CDL Mill. No regard to teaching and creating better drivers. Simply in business to create turnover for profit.

They will teach you what you need to know if your smart enough to grasp it. Either you understand what they are saying, Or you dont.

If you can drive thrashed out yard equipment there, You can drive and shift ANYTHING. So they have done there job. I took both the CDL & Heavy Equipment Operators course. The HEO course was a joke.
