A car driving down McDowell Road in Scottsdale collided with the back of an 18-wheeler on Friday, then climbed up the back ramp and came to a rest hanging halfway off the trailer near the front cab.
Police say the elderly female driver and elderly male passenger were transported to Banner Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Hospital in serious condition.
The accident happened at 68th Street, just east of the Papago Peaks.
It's unclear what caused the accident or why the driver didn't put on her breaks when she started to climb the ramp of the trailer.
