try Schneider, they have revamped there entire image. but do not go to heavy metal truck training in IGH, mn centry is better in afton mn, dont know your location but hope that worksall of the equipment is JUNK !!!! tires bald, lights out for weeks on end, parts of the truck held together by duck tapea family of mice in one of them. can you say hanta virus. students paid 6500 dollars to learn to drive junk. a few of the instructors know their ####. one guy named sean has NO commercial experience driving a truck what so ever !!! zero !!!! how does someone like this have this job. literally a true case of the blind leading the blind. they have too many somali students that piss and #### all over the floor ( no joke) they piss and moan about everythimg even if they screw up. they receive special treatment from the owner and director. they are late, absent, cant drive to save their lives. then they go complain and get more time. while the rest of us get less if not none. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THE SCHOOL TO ANYONE THAT WANTS TO LEARN TO DRIVE BIG TRUCKS. a couple instructors came from century college i didnt know they had a school. but there is an old guy named phil, kinda senile but really has an awesome program, new equipment that is maintained right. yeah need i say more

Think about this.
1. Most accredited schools have FASFA and other financing options. Some state labor agencies even have free money.
2. Most schools offer lifetime job placement and normally know who is hiring locally before it is even advertised.
3. Most schools will have you pre-hired before you even finish schooling
4. If you attend a non-company sponsored training you receive all of the tax credits and deductions and NOT the company. Like tuition, books, maps, clothes, pens & pencils, notebooks, cost of a laptop/computer, cost of a printer, ink, paper, cost of the medical exam, permitting fees, meals, travel expenses, etc..
5. Normally you will start with a higher CPM rate than drivers coming out of their own school.
6. Most companies have tuition reimbursement up to $10,000 which is paid directly to you weekly or monthly with no contract.
7. You can leave the company anytime you want because you owe them ZERO!
8. When you are in school you may find you like hauling something different than what you thought or you may receive better job offers. You are not locked into one company for the next 12-15 months so you can do whatever you want.
If you still want to go the company sponsored route you might what to add:
Averitt Express
Conway Truckload (which also allows you to work the docks while attending school)Chase05 Thanks this. -
Greenfirelady, you can't beat this advice. I am taking some time to try to save money to avoid the company sponsored route, but if I have to go that way Averitt and Conway are my two top choices... although Knight is still in the running. The only tweak is that Conway Freight is Conway's LTL division. This is the division that has the dockwork training that CDL1968 mentions, Conway Truckload would be straight OTR coming out of school. If I go Conway I'm going on the Truckload side. Good luck!

Thanks, widow--I will check them out, as well. So far, we have talked to and put in apps for:
central refrig
celadon
PAM transport -
Thanks, CDL...your suggestions make sense. But I've already burned thru a #$@tload of ed funds in getting my bachelor degree in IT and 2 masters degrees in human services and accounting...my ed funds are completely tapped out! I do have vet benefits tho...I might be able to use those, but only at 60% paid....
